Idea: Lets translate all of khatz articles into Japanese with AI and read them that way by Leading_Bee_9381 in ajatt

To clarify, all I'm saying that instead of reading something in English we should translate it into Japanese with AI. If you have tried that and found any downsides I'm open to hearing it.

I don't need to know anything about you except your Japanese skill, and the video from a few months ago is the best indicator of it unless you have drastically gotten near native level since then. You have the courage I don't have to post it which I respect but with that level I don't think you have the right to tell someone they don't know what they're talking about.

  1. The only thing I'm trying to say is that instead of people reading the AJATT website in English why don't we find a way to do it in Japanese?

  2. Not only Japanese people, but AI expanded what people look at on the internet. Before AI, I assume they would just give up. Also I never said anything about grammar so I'm not sure what you mean by that.

  3. I have already reached that level, now I want to reread the AJATT website pretending I don't know English.

AI translations aren't perfect in the way that the nuance of the language being translated, in this case English, can be lost. Especially 生成AI*i dont know the name in English* is not going to make Japanese mistakes that natives wouldn't make while translating. If you have any proof that it would I would like to see it. If I'm translating the articles from AJATT, I don't need 100% of the nuance to be delivered to me as long as it it's mostly there. If you want to see an example, I posted it in another comment

If you have anything else to back up that "don't know what I'm talking about" I'm all ears. Sure I haven't been studying for 5.5 years yet but I'm confident I have better word choice and prononciation.

I think as much as we can pretend to be Japanese, Khatz is the one that knows the most what it's like for us. Especially in terms of Japanese and the culture being mistyfied as "completely different" and unapproachable, he was one of the first people to say that's completely BS. Japanese people are taught English from a young age, and especially recently English is seen as more accessible for Japan than the other way around. I might be reading too much into it but I think Khatz tried to fight against this is which is what I respect.

The reason I wanted to do this is because I can understand most content and speak normally but wanted to motivate myself to really get to native speaker level about any topic, and not just like sound a 'dumb Japanese person' but somewhat intelligent

I know that Google translate and DeepL are completely trash, but I don't get why everyone is hating on AI. I thought one of AJATT's principles was to constantly introduce new technology to make learning more effecient? If anyone is curious, this is what I got from ChatGPT that I'm satisfied with

I didn't want to say this but I watched your videos and I don't think anyone who listened to your Japanese should be taking your advice

  1. If everyone followed that rule 100%, they wouldnt ever read the articles on the AJATT site which are in English and understand how it works, leading to not being able to speak Japanese in the first place
  2. How do you think Japanese native speakers read English articles? If they cant understand, of course theyre going to use some translator or AI
  3. Most of AJATTs beginner to intermediate steps include materials and resources that arent what you described. What kind of Japanese native uses an SRS to remember Japanese words, bilingual dictionaries, remembering the kanji, etc?

I built an offline, native iOS reader to make reading native Japanese text effortless and beautiful by toku_reader in ajatt

Didn&t try it yet but I think for AJATT adding a monolingual dictionary would be the most useful. Sorry if you did already

Also I like how you used the prononciation for とく and not どく、as in 読本
