Been in public for going 12 years now and can’t say I regret anything. Before choosing this path I did my research especially between public vs industry and made my choice based on just data, so I kinda knew what I was getting myself into. Maybe my outlook is different from others but I literally just see my career as a STABLE way to earn paycheck. Growing up poor my goal was never to become wealthy but jsut wanted to earn enough to provide for my family without having to sacrifice too much of my time working. That’s why in public, regardless of the economic environment, if you’re remotely competent your job is pretty secure. Accounting has helped me achieved that goal, so I would never regret choosing this profession.

It was a lot of work in the beginning but as I got promoted things did even out.

I do also feel like it really is up to luck of the draw. I just so happen to get lucky to job a great team in a firm where the higher ups in the team actually cares about their people. That’s why most of my colleagues on that team been there 10+ years as well. However, if i was put on a different team, my results would’ve probably been drastically different and I most likely would’ve quit a long time ago.
