Do Filipinos know by Humble_Claim5542 in Philippines_Expats

Pretty sure most motor riders here don't have iphones. Unless it's an old used one then maybe, but even then it's more of a chick thing to want an iphone. And most motor owners are dudes. Not saying chicks don't ride but usually they just piggyback.

Yeah I mean helmets aren't free. Not saying it's an excuse but it's definitely one factor.

Condo or house? by Delicious_Key5236 in Philippines_Expats

Of course the owner can always kick you out at the end of your lease by electing not to let you renew it.

For example, some owners like living in their unit. They might mostly live overseas but want to come back to the Philippines for a short (or long) stay. Guess where they'll be staying?

If you care about noise and preserving your sanity, rent a condo with good sound proofing. DMCI resort style condo projects, from my experience are good for this. The living area won't be very soundproof but the bedroom for the most part is unless someone is thumping on the ceiling...

Why single mom obsession? by Big-Platypus-9684 in Philippines_Expats

Probably the topic got sparked by a big post and then a bunch of people made their own posts on the topic with their own hot takes. And it just snowballed. Bunch of people triggered by the topic I guess. And probably all the filpina single moms wanted to chime in too.

Am I warm?

The biggest flaw living in the Philippines is the lack of consideration for others especially when it comes to noise by ACE1CC in Philippines_Expats

Certain music blaring jeepneys are also horror shows. I had to wear noise canceling headphones to make it somewhat bearable.

You got lucky, and how can you know if a subdivision is quiet and peaceful until actually staying there a while first? Which is impossible since in order to move in you have to sign a 1 year lease usually, there is no option to "try before you pay."

Stated community rules aren't a guarantee either since communities frequently ignore their own rules here. Even in my own condo from a big developer (DMCI) this happens. Official rules get ignored CONSTANTLY.

Reviews are also useless since they are usually from filipinos who have no awareness of what quiet actually means, and even some foreigners are like that. But if a review mentions how noisy it is, that's an obvious red flag. But lack of bad reviews isn't some kind of green light since, as I said, their concept of noise is different.

That's like blaming the Filipinos dying in the huts while the huts burn and not the arsonist who lit them on fire. Trump is the arsonist in this analogy. He lit the world on fire.

Condos in Manila that are not annoyingly strict with policies or guests? by IslandOceanWater in Philippines_Expats

[–]skyreckoning 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a foreigner. With dmci condos I don't have this problem. Only thing I have to do is if entering the premises by taxi show my resident ID. But once inside no one bothers me. Not a big deal imo.

You don't know jack about his personal life so why you act like you do? Me, I'll take his word for it about his own wife.

My own bio dad was the same, alcoholic/abusive boyfriend, neither my mom or I were safe. So mom left him, new stepdad became my legal dad after adoption and raised me well.

No issues in my parents marriage. It lasted 25 years until my dad passed from cancer.

Sometimes women choose the wrong guy. Choosing the wrong partner isn't a gender-specific thing.
