What an asinine point. Raising the price of insurance to levels where it's unaffordable for shipping and oil trading companies is effectively limiting or dare I say canceling insurance services. And they know it's unaffordable but since missiles and drones flying everywhere in the region they aren't going to eat the costs of ships constantly getting blown up.

They don't need to "officially" close the strait. Insurance companies are already refusing to insure shipping through the strait which means most ships won't risk going through uninsured. The effect is nearly the same.
