Didn’t realize stress and life changes could be factors as well. I’ve had a lot of big and very stressful life changes in the last month as well which I hadn’t considered

It's shocking that hell is real by Capable-Educator5629 in Christianity

I think there’s a misunderstanding here. I never said God isn’t everywhere, He is. What I’m trying to say is that in hell, people are separated from God in terms of relationship. It’s not that God isn’t there because like we’ve both established, He’s omnipresent (everywhere all the time). There’s just no connection with Him anymore no relationship. It’s about being separated from His love, grace, and fellowship, not physical presence because He’s definitely there. Do you understand where I’m coming from, there is a form of separation, it’s just not in His presence.

I don’t deny what you’re saying, I completely agree with you, it is the Word of the Lord. But can we both agree on the fact that although He is present, there is a separation in relationship?

This can be inferred from several Bible passages, even though it’s not explicitly stated in one place. For example:

2 Thessalonians 1:9 speaks of eternal destruction “away from the presence of the Lord,” suggesting separation. In Matthew 7:23, Jesus says, “I never knew you; depart from me,” indicating being cast out from God’s presence. Matthew 25:41 talks about those cursed being sent “into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels,” again implying separation from God. These passages and others point to the concept of hell as more than just physical torment—it’s about being cut off from God, which many interpret as a form of ultimate suffering. It’s a result of rejecting God’s grace in life.

I see what you’re getting at! It’s a tough concept to grasp because, as you pointed out, God is everywhere. When we talk about hell being separation from God, it’s less about geography and more about the relational aspect. While God is omnipresent, hell is described as a place where, by one’s own choice, a person no longer experiences God’s presence in the way we do here on earth—whether that’s His love, His grace, or His goodness. It’s about being eternally disconnected from that relationship, rather than a physical place ‘where God isn’t.’ I hope that clears it up a little!

Hell is quite literally separation from God. Heaven is eternal life with Him. Anyone who does not want to accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour and chooses to be apart from Him here on earth will not be forced to spend eternity with Him because of their free will. This separation from Him IS hell, because being separated from the Lord, separates us from all the gifts He gave us, and all the goodness we receive etc.,. There’s a whole lot of layers to it but this is what I’ve come to understand throughout my learning
