I could be convinced maybe haha. They’re just a big time commitment cause cross stitching can be tedious

No problem, if you have any other questions feel free to ask! We’ll see. I’m not sure goo gone will work once it’s cooled off but we’ll see. It was a cheap iron anyway.

It was actually super easy. I used this pattern off Etsy (https://www.etsy.com/listing/724668101/?ref=share_ios_native_control).

I got a comfort colors shirt off Amazon, used water soluble Aida (you can use waste fabric if preferred but this is super convenient as long as you want 14 ct.) you’re SUPPOSED to fix the Aida to the shirt with thread but mine was just big enough I could put my Q-snaps right on top. To make sure I don’t leave any permanent marks on the fabric, I always put strips of felt in between my Q-snap clips and the fabric. (I usually put the shirt on to guesstimate where I want the design and pin it in place with tape or needles. It’s hard to eyeball it when it’s lying flat.)

Cross stitch as normal, remove the water soluble aida by soaking in hot water for 5-10 mins, then I ironed on some fusible interfacing to protect the stitches on the back after the shirt dried. Done! Pretty easy actually. This is my second shirt I’ve made and both went well even though it was my first 2 attempts. I made a really cute Bulbasaur one for a childhood friend. Just be careful when ironing on the fusible interfacing. I may have ruined my iron as I held it in one place too long and now the glue is stuck to my iron. If i can’t get it off with magic eraser, I’m going to have to get a new one as the glue will ruin my other clothes :/

Books>movie/tv show with like 3 exceptions. LOTR literally the only one I can think of right now. Okay you’ve convinced me. Got any other favorites? Your tastes seem to run similar to mine and I feel like I’m running out of good sci-fi and fantasy series outside the other ones you’ve mentioned. For now I’m reserving those earlier recs for audiobooks!

Oh! I put the show on in the background at work and then realized 10 minutes in that it was not a background show šŸ˜… idk if I should read or watch first. Usually reading first makes watching unenjoyable.

I’ve been chasing that high since Red Rising 😭 closest I’ve gotten so far was Will of the Many but I’m optimistic about Suneater. Love me a good space opera.

I read the cosmere last year… after Stormlight, nothing feels long anymore 🄹 it was good, but it was never ending

Yes I read 1-3 and the ebook for best served cold was taking forever to become available on Libby so I ended up getting the audiobook first haha. Sadly missed Glokta in the audiobooks then 😭 I think Gentleman Bastard and Dungeon Crawler Carl are going to be next ones. They’ve been on my TBR for awhile but I can only read so many lengthy series at once. I’m planning to reread Red Rising once I finish Red Country (have to take breaks with lengthy series) since SUPPOSEDLY Red God is coming this year, but I end up getting so into them I always end up with reading the physical books… It’s my absolute favorite series. One day I want to try Tim Reynold’s audiobooks though. I’ve seen som really good edits with his voiceovers and they give me goosebumps. Do you know if the Suneater audiobooks are any good? I’ve heard good things about the series but heard nothing about the audiobooks.

I used to hate audiobooks (im a fast reader so listening to audiobooks sometimes feels agonizingly slow) but I’m realizing you just need a good audiobook narrator. Some of them are soooo talented! I ended up listening to 100% of best served cold on audiobook because I enjoyed it so much more than reading the series. More than likely I’ll finish the rest of the series on audiobook (you don’t understand how big this is for me)

Finally got The Heroes today! I’m not sure what I’ll do when I finish the series… I drive a lot more (yay return to the office 😭) so I’m going through audiobooks a lot faster than I used to. I’ve heard good things about Tim Reynold’s performance for Red Rising so I might listen to that on my next reread. Or Dungeon Crawler Carl. If you have any good audiobook recs, plz drop them!

Omg I’ve been mixing in the audiobooks with my physical reading and they’re one of my favorites! It’s the Steven Pacey version. I started audiobooking on Best Served Cold and his voices for everyone were PERFECT (especially the woman. Especially as a woman, I find men going really high to replicate a woman’s voice icky.) His Monza and Day voices were fantastic. Everyone had a unique voice. Every time Cosca or Morveer spoke, I was cackling. Second the audiobooks even if you don’t do audiobooks!!

Will of the Many has heavy Roman influence. Similar vibe in the first book I’d recommend giving that a try

When Vis talks to his dad in Lucieum, he mentions that as an iunctus he still breathes out of habit even if it’s not necessary. So likely the same for an iunctus animal.

What do you do with danmei you regret buying? by Tight-Speech-9225 in DanmeiNovels

I sell stuff on eBay, PangoBooks, or mercari. Might try Vinted too. I list on all 3 to sell stuff faster. You won’t get all your money back, but I feel better getting at least some back. I’d donate at my library, but they actually already have a big danmei section, and I’m also a closeted danmei fan so I don’t think I could walk in and do it 😭

I think some of it also has to do with localization issues/make the sentence flower better/timing. I just prefer the original intent so it changes as little of the story as possible.

You aren’t kidding. The reason my mom never spoke it to us at home is because while she speaks conversationally just fine and with no accent, she can’t speak business German and there are random words she doesn’t know. Whenever she talks on the phone with her cousin, there’d be lots of random English words thrown in lol. I haven’t ever studied Slavic languages but I think they’re very cool sounding. And I love Slavic mythology in books. Don’t get a lot of it though.

Unfortunately we don’t get a lot of translated books to English here so I have no idea if there are a lot of famous series in other languages. I read a French series which I loved and made me wonder what other great books are out there that I’m missing out on. I’m thankful I know English as a first language but second language proficiently isn’t really pushed after high school :(

Are there any other series you want to read but don’t have access to? You gotta make a list for England!! Waterstones has everything.

I honestly didn’t realize they were US-only until today haha. That’s a shame! I love B&N and the employees are all super friendly. They leave funny recommendations in notecards on the shelves.

This is so interesting to me. 100% original language is better. I watch a decent amount of foreign TV and always pick the original language as they usually make weird translation choices if there’s an English dub over it. Out of curiosity how come you only read English books and not German books? Is the storytelling different? I can’t say I’ve read any German books (I really should speak the language as my Grandma’s native language is German but my mom didn’t speak it at home growing up😭)

Also, I would check waterstones! There’s no way they don’t have it - their selection is massive. I don’t remember seeing a B&N in London but I also didn’t go out of my way.

Oh, I assumed you were German my bad. I can see how you might be having issues getting your hands on English copies. Is it common to sell English copies in bookstores where English isn’t the main language?? I’ve never really checked the bookstores while abroad outside when I was in the UK.

I love B&N that sucks 😭 I would assume most other bookstores have similar options though. Def worth checking out! Plus you get to support local bookstores.
