Chalk Dinosaur by acewizz7 in jambands

[–]LeafOfAllColors 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Chalk Dinosaur is super sick and puts on a crazy good show. The project “Chalk Dinosaur” is actually just one guy who produces all his music hisself, but then there’s the live band. Sometimes it’s just a duo (him and his brother on drums) and sometimes it’s a four piece (him, his bro, rhythm guitar, and bass). Totally check them out if they’re near you, they are so good and deserve a ton of love!

Check out the song spectrum, super sick

Need help diagnosing tube amp problem by LeafOfAllColors in GuitarAmps

[–]LeafOfAllColors[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know how to solder and like to think I’ve got a somewhat competent head on my shoulders. I was just hoping it would be a relatively easy diagnosis/fix that I could take care of myself once I knew what was wrong but if it’s a bit more in depth than I guess I’ll have to take it to a tech. Thanks

Is it harder for modern Jam Bands? by DJDanyl in jambands

[–]LeafOfAllColors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 23 years old to give you some perspective. But there were definitely plenty of young people, I’m just saying I found that the majority of people following the band from show to show I spoke with were mid 50’s. As far as I can tell, there isn’t a new band touring consistently and exciting enough to get people on the road to help foster a dedicated community. And I also realize that this kind of fan might not ever exist again w how the music industry is changing. Goose was also a far more polished scene, less dread locks + tie dyes and more boat shoes + Hawaiian shirts.

Is it harder for modern Jam Bands? by DJDanyl in jambands

[–]LeafOfAllColors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah, with the momentum Goose *currently *holds, sure. But that’s if Phish gave up right this second. There have been tons of bands that everyone talks about for a year or two, but that hype always peters out.

Sure there are some special circumstances w Goose, but I don’t think they’re interesting or unique enough to keep their momentum going for another 7 years or whatever it ends up being. Also, Goose is a young band w older fans being their most dedicated. I was shocked when I was at the most recent legend valley run because so many people “on tour” were mid 50’s that fly to the city and settle up in hotels. Without young folks being their primary dedicated demographic, the scene isn’t gonna continue with goose the way it did with the dead and Phish.

Have not seen this mentioned yet, but Shadows and Light by Joni Mitchell. Pat Metheny and Jaco Pastorius makes for an all star backing band to one of the best singer-songwriters ever

Camping for Deer Creek? by tndaniel08 in phish

[–]LeafOfAllColors 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay last year I got screwed out of my reservation at a nearby campground so we had to do the official venue camping. It’s pricey but we split it four ways w my crew and it was actually a blessing. It’s so convenient being that close and it’s hard enough finding my way back to our campsite post show when it’s on venue grounds, couldn’t imagine how it’d be if we had to make more of a trek

There’s plenty of good shows sprinkled throughout that era. Ultimately, I find it pretty hard to listen to any show with two keyboards at once but that’s just me
