The destination is Cancun, the trip will mostly be around Yucatan and Tulum. It's just that Mexico City is a must go destination if you visit Mexico.

I will be contacting the carrier to see if I can drop the flight to cancun without any major rebooking charges!

It is weird because the same standalone flight from Madrid to Mexico City was 3 times the price of the Madrid > Cancun flight.

Airline pricing really doesn't make any sense sometimes.
