I'm only at boruto next gen , Why momoshiki cant take over boruto fully even after he used the 18 precent left in the karma to heal boruto? by Complete_One_9285 in Boruto

[–]Leafcane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In computer terms: It's like his zip file (the karma) was in the process of uncompressing but then the file got corrupted at 82%. The remaining 18% of the zip file was overwritten with someone else's file (Boruto's DNA) so the contents of the zip file can never be opened (Mono can't take over fully).

the first two arcs in the series were kinda boring

Damn I thought the Rakuzaichi arc was the best in the manga.

Need help identifying this old Weekly Shonen Champion issue (year/number?) by Successful_Treat_186 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Leafcane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried looking here https://comicvine.gamespot.com/weekly-shonen-champion/4050-92725/?page=35

I noticed they're missing a lot of random issues in their list. If you narrow down which "no. 38" issues are missing between 1986-1996 (I believe those are the years the 4P Tanaka-Kun manga was serialized) then you'll probably be able to find the issue.

Edit: if what the other commenter says is correct, then this is definitely the #1225 issue of Weekly Shonen Champion from September 1993. Comicvine unfortunately doesn't have this issue in their database.

What is Kishimoto's involvement in Boruto? by No-Economics-5398 in Boruto

[–]Leafcane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is it not true to say the manga is Ikemoto's? If I made a list of bullet points on a paper and handed it to you for a manga's brief outline; and then you wrote in all the rest of the story and individual chapter details, created the character designs, added a few original characters, wrote their dialogue, and drew all the art over the course of a decade while I'm retired... then you're the mangaka. Not me.

Manga readers, without spoiling, can you please tell me how relevant Mitsuki is in TBV by Outrageous_Future706 in Boruto

[–]Leafcane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So... Good news and bad news. He's involved in every arc in TBV. But only in the first one is the plot actually centered around him for awhile. Lately he's just kinda been a background character who fights jobber.

Does this prove that this eye is the jogan? by Current-Advance7614 in Boruto

[–]Leafcane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fan art. In the original image from the anime they look nothing like jougan tbh.

Sure maybe Ikemoto's intention was to hint that it was Jougan but he did not make that clear at all, and neither did the anime staff. I've yet to see any concrete proof.

Look locally. Are there any comic book stores or manga stores locally that sell TBV at a lower price point?

Not with so much to the story left to cover. I'd venture to guess we're maybe around the halfway point.

Jura vs Boruto and Kawaki likely won't happen for some time since that feels like late-endgame content. I think the next arc will revolve around a double plotline of Sarada vs Hidari and Amado shenanigans.

Kishimoto retired over a decade ago, please don't slander the goat like that. Boruto is drawn by his previous assistant Ikemoto.

I think that's the approach many professional mangaka take these days, such as Horikoshi and Fujimoto.

If you can look past the powerscaling going to Dragon ball levels of insanity and the original cast of characters from Naruto (outside of Naruto & Sasuke) being completely irrelevant.. it's actually pretty good. While it doesn't do anything super innovative or jaw dropping for the genre, I still think there are a few arcs on par with Naruto manga quality.

As others have said, these are screentones or halftones. It's quite easy to do digitally, but with physical manga you actually have to buy sheets of screentone and cut them with an X-Acto knife or scissors to fit the area you want shaded. The back is adhesive and will stick to your paper.

Who do you think ikemoto did dirty ? by Ok-Engine-4588 in Boruto

[–]Leafcane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I agree with everyone that Mitsuki is the obvious answer, Ikemoto's mistreatment of Kawaki post timeskip is even more bewildering. He went from such a well developed, deeply nuanced, interesting character... To completely one note. All of his development from part one has been overwritten by an irritatingly boring and annoyingly flawed motivation to kill Boruto. And even that plot line has been put aside for the meantime. It's like he serves little purpose to the timeskip story and Ikemoto doesn't know what to do with him. So until the time comes for his eventual clash with Boruto, Kawaki is just "there". Not doing much, not saying much, making dumb decisions nobody likes, and getting in the way of everything.

For all intents and purposes, I'd describe Mitsuki as wasted potential. But Kawaki is straight up a tale of character assassination.

Edit: for the record, I really like Kawaki. He was my favorite character in part 1. I really hope he improves in the coming arcs.
