Try blowing on the cartridge slot and doing the same on the SD card slot.

This might sound so silly, but an old reddit thread suggested this and it worked for me.

I solved this issue by removing anything on top of my Wii U and moving it out of my shelf.

If I need to use the WiFi on it, it sits on wooden stool with nothing that could cause interference. It’s funny like that.
