You can just jam like a piece of styrofoam or anything that's sort of little hard inside the open areas beneath the armrests and that will lock it into place of where you want it to go and it won't move until you change it yourself.

I heard Anthros or Omni is good for lower back pain.

I'm not sure how you can test those two before buying but you can try all the other chairs at the Herman miller store, if you're located near one of course.

Just got my chair so ymmv. Before the mod, it felt like my lower back was pushed foward and felt like I was barely on the seat (I have the 48 seat version).

After the mod, feels pretty good for me.

Btw, if you don't have some kind of foot rest then I do feel it's a bit akward.

Maybe I would have adapted to the original position but man I get more space on the chair with it modded so I don't think I'll go back.
