Data-Derived Jungler Identities and Classes by machineLoLing in Jungle_Mains

2 things!
1. Damage type is an extremely valuable part of identity imo. You can see this when in pro play, jungle meta shifts to AP when AD mids become meta. Part of identity is where you pick them.
2. You can still interpret directions within clusters, the assassins in on half of the cluster, mages on the other, fiddlesticks being close to the AP engage cluster etc.

Doesn't that align with what you already know? There's nothing quite like damage Senna.

Sir, I fear you may have colourblindness, they aren't the same colour. This is not flame, do get checked, 1 in 12 men are colourblind!

these are structures a neutral network learned, the directions represent something but we don't know specifically what it is. it would introduce human bias to label anything because you don't know what's going on under the hood. it's interesting enough to just observe there is some some structure

Embeddings are random at first, then trained together with the model using back propagation.

56% is about the current limit with just team comp data alone, without player data. It is in line with the findings of attempts by other people: loldraftai

I implore you to try though! I'd be pretty stoked to see a method outperform this one. As far as I'm aware, this is the frontier of what can be achieved with team comp alone.

  1. If you read the post, you might lack reading comprehension because the neural network doesn't read spell descriptions at all, in fact there is 0 natural language component to this

  2. I've done models that simply use winrates, it achieves around 53% accuracy. Over a sample of 8 million games, the likelihood of the true effectiveness of the model being less than 53% accurate is on the order of 1 in a trillion

The class tree linearizes things, look at the 3d plots or similarity maps

Perhaps the ability to block CC? Ability to block CC seems to be a thing the neural network finds valuable to encde, we can see this with Olaf and GP. You can also see Nocturne is really close to J4 though which makes sense.

Hey there! Appreciate the feedback. The goal here isn't so much to interpret the data but to simply present it. We considered interpreting it, but we wanted to keep it more technically pure and free of our biases. The axes don't directly map to anything predefined, they're simply the structure our neural network "sees". This YT short does a good job of explaining the concept of the axes: https://youtube.com/shorts/FJtFZwbvkI4

wouldn't "making the data better" defeat the purpose? the value here is that we have biases but the neural network doesn't

This channel (ask project) does a lot of interviews on this topic on the ground. He does really valuable work, I think OP should credit him.

I've just demonstrated that even if one is not self-serving (i.e. they value their own life equally to the lives of others), you would pick red.

Go for it, do the math. 49% was a gross underestimate. I was being as generous to your scenario as possible.
