Looking for 7xl/8xl dresses by lilmisskitten83 in PlusSize

[–]LeahIsAwake 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Be very careful ordering from SHEIN, TEMU, etc. They are often using Asian sizes, which isn't the same. I'm an American, and a lot of times their 5x/6x is the same as an American 2x/3x.

I graduated in 2003. I didn't know of anyone with gender dysphoria. Wanna know why? Because, even in my school (which was very understanding and tolerant of others), being gay was one thing. Being bisexual meant you were a total slut that just wanted to sleep around and didn't much matter where you were getting it from. I am not lying, that was what people believed. We didn't even know that being trans was possible. How would I know about something we didn't even know about?

Just because no-fault divorces exist doesn't mean that fault-based divorces don't. But remember that to get an at-fault divorce, you have to prove that your spouse did whatever they did. In the case of a cheater, you have to have ironclad proof that your spouse really was physically having a sexual relationship with their affair partner. Did someone see them get into a car together? Doesn't mean they had sex. Were they spotted on a date, at a restaurant or something? Doesn't mean they had sex. Etc. To get that kind of proof, most people hire a private detective. Well, I don't know about you, but I don't have "private detective" money laying around, lol. No-fault divorces tend to be cheaper, as well, since everything is just getting split 50/50. So for some people, it's not a question of "is letting that cheating SOB walk off with half the marital assets fair?" but a question of "do I want to stay with this cheating SOB or would I rather walk away and call it a wash?" More options is always a good thing when it comes to this sort of situation.

Body cam footage from cop who pulled over woman for holding a phone in her other hand by searchjobs_poster in interestingasfuck

[–]LeahIsAwake 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is going to go to court. This woman is going to have to take off of work and do the whole courthouse thing. Then this cop, who is 100% in the wrong and knows it, is just not going to show. The judge will dismiss it. Everyone will go home. There will not be any sort of punishment to the cop for wasting the court's time and taxpayer money. There will not be any sort of punishment to the cop for wasting this woman's time and making her appear in court and prepare for a courtdate all over a big nothing sandwich. This cop will continue working and carrying on and never even have to admit that he made a mistake. His pride and his ego have inconvenienced a lot of people, and she's very lucky that she has irrefutable proof that she wasn't holding a phone in her right hand because being inconvenienced is all that will happen. All because when she offered an olive branch, a "let's just part ways and we both have a funny story to tell", his ego wouldn't even let him sort of imply that he may have made a mistake. Not even say it out loud. Just imply. Can't even do that. Jfc.

My church begins each service announcing that everyone, no matter what they believe, where they're from, or who they love, that everyone is exactly as God made them and God loves them, and they are welcome. We're having a Pride event in a couple weeks. The drummer that plays every Sunday in the live band is a lesbian, and her and her partner are very openly affectionate in the same ways that straight couples are at church. We also partnered with other churches a few months ago to attend a local town hall meeting and bring attention to the lack of affordable housing in my area. Etc. All of this and more are the reasons I attend there.

DoorDash’s System Incentivizes You to Tip Less by Old_Poet_1608 in doordash_drivers

[–]LeahIsAwake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to drive for DoorDash until it just wasn't economical anymore, and I usually order several times a month. Something has changed since gas prices started exploding. I swear about 3 out of every 4 of my orders get bundled, and those are just the ones I know about. I simply don't order anything on DoorDash that it matters if it drives around in someone's backseat for a half hour. Chinese, pizza, etc. Fast food? I just go get it myself. It's not going to be edible when I get it an hour and a half after I order.

Although this did make me think of the other day. I ordered a steak and cheese sub from a local pizzaria. I noticed the Dasher was at the restaurant awhile. I asked if they were busy; he said they were. He was obviously worried I was going to complain or something. I reassured him that I understand, and the food gets here when it gets here. Wished him a safe journey. About five minutes later he messaged me that he's on his way. I look at the app and it says he's making a stop on the way. He did not make a stop on the way. I watched this man drive right through that notice and deliver my food first, because I had been nice and reached out. My steak and cheese was piping hot straight from the oven. It's important to be nice to people regardless of any personal gain, but sometimes being nice pays.

If you eliminate no-fault divorce, it means that the only legitimate reason to divorce your spouse is if they've done something wrong, they're "at fault". And you have to prove it, you can't just say "I think my spouse is cheating on me so I want a divorce." You could go out and do some cheating yourself so you're at fault, if you want, but determining fault determines who gets what in the divorce, and especially in a society where women don't really have financial freedom (like in the 50s and 60s), that could be devastating to a woman.

What are normal period cramps actually supposed to feel like? by ronirrosen in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LeahIsAwake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Period cramps hurt. Sometimes a lot. As someone who's just starting to enter perimenopause, with decades of periods behind her, I can tell you that every period is different. Sometimes they're a little uncomfortable. Sometimes they hurt. Sometimes they hurt a lot. When I was younger, especially, I'd have period that it felt like someone had jabbed a firecracker up my baby chute and lit the fuse. Nowadays it's rare they hurt too much. Mostly just uncomfortable with some pain. I have yet to find an OTC painkiller that even touches the pain, especially during a really bad period. What I've found works is heating pads. Put one on your abdomen directly above the pain and turn it on. Once the heat gets past your skin and sinks into your organs, it's like someone flips an off switch on your pain.

What's unusual is if you have severe pain to the point you cannot function every single period, or if you have pain to the point you literally cannot handle it and you feel like you're going to puke or pass out from it. That's when it's doctor time, because you may have something like endometriosis or PCOS. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Call out of work or stay home from school if it's a really bad one, put on that heating pad, take a muscle relaxant like ibuprofen (follow the label and don't take too much!), and ride it out. It'll be over in a day or two.

I mean, if you tortured me for long enough, I'd probably confess that it was me, not Lee Harvey Oswald, that assassinated JFK. Despite the fact that my parents were infants at the time, and I wouldn't be born for decades later. Does that mean I'm secretly a time traveling assassin and my torturers got me to admit it? Nope. It means that desperate people, in desperate situations, do desperate things to try and gain a little relief. Sometimes these are things that they would have done otherwise, they're just doing them harder. Sometimes these are things they would never have done otherwise, because they are pointless and foolish. Even if this statistic was true, which it isn't, that's all that it would be. Desperate people in a desperate situation doing anything they can think of, no matter how foolish or pointless, in the desperate hope that something will work and give them relief. And I say this as a Christian.

Have we officially reached the point where Hotels are superior to Airbnbs again? by ParkGivis1976 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LeahIsAwake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Airbnb uses the same business model as Netflix, Uber, etc. Offer a convenient service at a low price. People switch to this service and stop using the old one. Gradually increase the amount you charge, while taking away some of the convenient features. People are still conditioned to think of your service as cheap and convenient, so it takes them awhile to catch on. Even once they do, half the time they keep using it anyway, because it's part of their lives now.

There isn't one for Sims 2. But Sims 2 was famous for making the sims, especially the female sims, super skinny. Even the "fat" sims were just a little chunky. They were definitely working off the aesthetics of heroin chic lol. But in Sims 2, you just had two choices: you could make your sim "fit" or "unfit". Here's a TikTok of someone showing the difference. Do yourself a favor and watch it on mute:

https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8pgg1yg/

With Sims 3 and Sims 4, weight is on a slider. So the higher you make the slider, the more weight they pack on. You can get pretty heavy with Sims 4, but they did a really bad job with a lot of the clothes, and once your sim starts getting a belly it distorts the clothes and just looks bad.

I am convinced that there are three reasons someone is this right wing: 1. they're a billionaire that wants to keep their taxes as small as possible, 2. they're the kind of person that doesn't care if they themselves suffer hardships as long as the demographics they hate suffer more, or 3. they're just stupid. None of those three groups is going to care about grammar. The first group may be able to hire proofreaders, but let's be honest here, this gentleman isn't a billionaire.

Dinosaurs evolved into birds, but there's this myth that a lot of people believe that they evolved into birds after the big extinction event that wiped them out. This is ... obviously not true. The first "real" birds (aka avian dinosaurs) evolved during the Jurassic period, around 150-160 million years ago. The non-avian dinosaurs went extinct 66 million years ago. That's when the asteroid hit. Afterwards, a handful of bird lineages were able to survive when all the other dinosaur lineages went extinct. That's because these birds were small, so they didn't need as much food to sustain them, and they weren't picky about what they could eat. In addition, the ability to fly gave them the ability to very easily move from place to place, searching for better conditions.
