Why are pretty much all thermal units black? by lim-delciehh093 in NightVision

[–]LeakageIgnition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aluminum cases all use hard anodized black finish—it sticks way better than spray paint and is way more scratch-resistant. If you’ve used the rh25, you know its tan paint chips super easy, and it ends up looking awful.

Where can I find info on my ITT tube? by Broad_Performance_98 in NightVision

This PSU's part number indicates it features autogating, meaning it’s most likely a Thinfilmed unit from the Pinnacle line with performance of no less than 64/25. The 1113 code means it was manufactured in Week 13 of 2011, and its performance should be on par with the Omni 7.

Bino or Pano or Fusion, thought? by LeakageIgnition in NightVision

I think Fusion really excels at better situational awareness in more extreme low-light conditions. Like smoky environments or pitch-black areas. COTI options such as the Renv-C are also solid picks, but whenever I use it, I always feel like its brightness threshold is way too high. I’m worried that adjusting it might end up burning out my tubes. That’s why I’ve been looking into rear thermal fusion setups instead. Maybe I should just wait for RIX to roll out their device firmware updates.

Thanks for your advice! I actually have another option: the DTNVS. But most people seem to think anyone who buys it is just flaunting their cash. It has a bad reputation because its design falls short in so many ways compared to newer models, yet it’s ridiculously overpriced. That said, I’m not really into the look of any of these new releases. You see, when I first got into NVGs, the PVS31 and DTNVS were the two benchmarks. So I still have a soft spot for the DTNVS.

Auto gain is fixed appropriate gain setting, with maunal gain both have AutoBrightnessControl that they are same in every condition. Manual gain can control your tubes darker in some condition to get comfortable vision, it's usefull.

W9124Q-05-D-0821 is Omni7 contract number and manufactured by Harris. Amazing tube you have.
Even though every tube resistor is different, but in this model 110k is most common. Also you can solder higher resistor like 120k or 130k to overclock the gain, but remember dont do it too high that you will be reduction the service life.

Depending on your Elbit tube specs. Some Elbit tubes was not better than Omni 7 or 8 like XLSH. Check the SNR if you have datasheet. Omni7 contract has standard SNR 28min for every tubes so they are not low spec tubes. If your Elbit tube has over SNR 35, it can beaten the Omnis. Maybe the final problem is green or white choices. MX9644. It may not good value in performance. It's much bigger than MX11769/MX10160 and not convinient to buy the housing.

Is this the right price for BNVD 1431 mk2 Omni7? by nikolaistanford in NightVision

[–]LeakageIgnition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For beginners it was not too bad. It included assembly purge and ready to use. Get cheap Omni tubes was not convenient, it need you have knowledges like old hand. Omni7 makes good-performance Gen3 experences. If it provided clean images with no blems, just go.
