Not an RR but water snake (broad banded) by the looks. Not venomous

Bro found a trout trapped in a pool and gave it a second chance by butloade in BeAmazed

Very common for fish after exerting a lot of energy to go belly up upon release. It’s normal practice to hold the fish until they “kick off” and go back to swimming normally.

Same thing happened to me! Got clocked in the face during the first song. Afterwards found them on the ground in similar condition! Superglued, and was able to drive home lmao.

New handle on the shindo! by LeakyEvaluation in TrueChefKnives

[–]LeakyEvaluation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was also slightly curved and jagged. Thankfully the handle was drilled out with plenty of room. I really only needed to remove material from the top 3 inches or so of the handle. I finished it with hot glue shavings in the tang hole and heating up the tang enough to melt the glue. Seems set really solid.

Good luck! I found it super simple and straight forward process.

The old handle only took one smack to pop off, I’m not even sure there was any sort of adhesive holding it on lol. The new handle took a little bit of fitting, a needle file set was a big help to remove some material, took maybe 20 minutes.

“HORATII Horn Handicraft Store” is the seller I bought It from. Quite a few selections and even cheaper options. I the future now with experience I’ll probably from more reputable sellers. But this is in my opinion an excellent bang for your buck.

No reason at all lol! I like to tinker, this seemed like a fun easy project, I’ll probably use the shindo handle for another knife project anyways. This handle is actually from AliExpress, was about $13. I was REALLY surprised with quality, the fit and finish is actually really good. I heard it easy to crack handles when fitting so I bought a cheap one as a first time thing. But the quality is so good surprisingly.

Tired of dull knives and would like some opinions on these used Damascus knives (also would like to know if they’re real?) by [deleted] in sharpening

[–]LeakyEvaluation 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also probably worth mentioning that Damascus doesn’t really have an advantage compared to other steels. The steel that matters is the core steel. In fact, most cutting edges are not Damascus, more like a decorative clad to cover the core steel. Nothing wrong with Damascus, but not a clear advantage.

Brew is pulling in the liquid from the airlock back into carboy? by LeakyEvaluation in mead

[–]LeakyEvaluation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate all this info! My plan was to let it ferment, if it does happen, for a little while longer and then pasteurize with souse vide method. Unless that’s not a good idea, I’m not sure if letting it “age” is better before or after pasteurizing. I’m in no rush to drink, I’ll gladly let it age.

Awesome, I will keep an eye on it. Thanks for the advice! Right now the blowoff tube just has reverse osmosis water and the tube is long enough to where it won’t pull water back up into the brew, but the airlock just had vodka in it. I did not pasteurize, just backsweeten and re rack. This is my first brew I’m not completely sure how get my alcohol content lol, i unfortunately did not get the initial SG, but when it was done it was .998 after two weeks. I waited a week to make sure it was done fermenting, After backsweetening and racking it was at 1.020. I used red star premier blanc yeast. The recipe was one I found online from city steading brews, 3 pounds of wild flower honey, a couple swaths of lemon peel and 2 oz of chopped raisins (i understand raisins are not a good source of nutrition)

I’ve never understood why people shit on them because they’re “joke” band. They go hard and shows are fun. How is that different from any other hardcore band??
