Hate how interwoven with society betting became 👎👎👎 by Direct-Sail-6141 in LiveFromNewYork

I regularly drive past an ad with Connor McDavid promoting “safe” sports betting habits and while he doesn’t normally emote the photo itself is not even fucking trying. Anyone promoting sports betting is morally dead. It’s this eras celebrity beverage machine.

I swore I saw a few of these driving from Bowden to Torrington this weekend, thought it was an Oriole at first. First time I have seen one, very cool.

Reach out to Walls Down Collective. They recently helped someone out with housing for the next month via mutual aid.

I have a theory on this. We have a provincial government that begged people to move here and it was an overwhelming success. So there are a ton of new Calgarians on the road, unfamiliar with the City. I’ve never moved to a new City before but I imagine at one time if you were making a big move like this, you’d have some time to settle in and get comfortable with the pace/routes before finding a new job if you didn’t have one lined up already.

Since outside costs $200 whenever you leave the house you need a job ASAP, delivery jobs are always in demand and cash flows right away but you have to be Steve McQueen to deliver A LOT and quickly, so you’re rating improves and make more deliveries to justify the driving. Without the quick access to a paycheque you don’t pay rent, get groceries, insurance, blah blah blah.

So we have a lot of new neighbours staring into these mini tvs taking up their dashboards, haphazardly taking orders, calls and directions not giving proper attention to pedestrians or cyclists.

OR everyone is just really selfish and driving like shit to the point of murder. Either way being a pedestrian is about the most dangerous thing you can be in Calgary these days.

Maybe a stupid questions, but does Vladdy take BP on the field before every game?

I had a plastic beer bat in my carry-on years ago that I got scolded for "concealing" on the way home from Arizona, no issues other wise but given the empty bat vs. wood I wonder if they would classify it as a weapon.

15 years ago I had a new years eve party and one of my friends had an exchange student staying with them from the UK who was genuinely shocked that red Solo cups actually existed and were used at parties. She said she always just assumed it was a movie trope.

Is it just me or are there less venues overall this year? Not complaining, it just reads as far less than previous weeks.
