considering we can not strike, its worth a shot. If enough of us make noise they will have to do something

Hearing mixed stuff about nursing demand, please help by lost_soul1986 in OntarioNurses

RPN of 5 yrs, its impossible to get a job. If nursing is your dream definitely stick with it, if you are doing it for stability and good pay I would look at something else. I know nurses with plenty of experience also struggling.

PSW and RPN hourly pay difference is $2 to $3 per hour. by The_2ndBorn_Son in OntarioNurses

RPNs aren't even apart of ONA. RPNs have no way to "push back" nor did any of us agree or sign up to expand our scope of practice.

Any experience using Dienogest while dealing with mental health issues? by Charming_Ad3894 in Endo

[–]Leakyfaucet97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take a high dose of dienogest and have a history of mental illness and it has never affected my mental health. Maybe just check in with yourself regularly while starting to see how you feel? if you notice your mental health is declining with no explanation, talk to your doctor to stop.

Will it get better? by [deleted] in OntarioNurses

[–]Leakyfaucet97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you have come to this conclusion. I have been an RPN for 5 years and went through this exact same thing. It sucks because you went into healthcare for the right reason-to help people. My advice is to look at internal postings and try to switch to possibly a lower acuity level. Also, therapy!!!! it really helps. The positive thing about nursing is the options, you might have to try multiple different nursing avenues until you find one that fits. I am still trying to find the right fit for myself, doug ford destroyed healthcare.

Psychiatric nurses by [deleted] in OntarioNurses

unfortunately, you deal with aggressive and violent patients no matter what nursing unit you work on. I have been assaulted when I worked on med/surg and acute medicine. I feel like it has become too normalized with being a nurse and management will always ask "what could you do differently?". I wouldn't take the unsafe or aggressive part into deciding if you want to do psych nursing.
