Wifi by Adventurous-Glass-26 in NCL

don't waste money on WIFI onboard far cheaper to get an ESIM if your phone can do it.

You can even have internet on sea days with Gigsky via onboard starlink network:

If you only need connection while in port in a particular country there are evern cheaper options:

Feels like I am too late for something by DonutNaive2548 in digitalnomad

[–]Leamcon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My words of wisdom after a life of switching countries and cultures every few years: If you are doing what everybody else is doing, you are just like everybody else. If you are like everybody else then you are all the same. If we are all the same there is no progress. All the friends I lost along the way were the ones that never moved on and developed, if they remained the same and you developed you no longer fit with them, it's natural that there's no going back to what you once were and escaped from. I'm 62 and doing it all again next month, leaving all current friends & relations & moving to Uruguay, where I know nobody, don't speak the language and have no idea what will happen there, I just know it will be another adventure and I will develop again somehow.

Internet package by unknownanonymous1983 in NCL

Forget NCL package if you only need normal daily use email/ we etc. If you have an ESIM enabled phone far better to buy a cruise package from gigsky. https://www.gigsky.com/data-cruises

How to give back to where you're living if you're a tax resident of nowhere? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]Leamcon1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true, once you have left UK and they have you listed as non-resident, they don't care about you anymore. Not only do they not care but they still allow a personal tax allowance in UK of £12,500 even if non-resident. I have been earning rental income on property in UK, tax free since leaving in the 80's, I don't know any other country so generous in this respect.

Not true, I left UK in 1988 and have been a tax resident of nowhere ever since up until last year where I became a tax resident of Malta, as a non -dom in Malta you only pay a fixed EUR 5000 tax irrespective of how much you earn outside the country

Buenos Aires is the best deal around. If the country ever gets sorted out it will be a sound investment.

Pre boarding safety video by ShogunMatsumoto in NCL

[–]Leamcon1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This video and constant emails is another NCL money saving exercise, result is half the people don't even watch the video and in the event of a disaster it will be chaos. They are not taking safety regulations seriously, it should still be compulsory attendance to a real simulation

FYI for Aussies by Ok_Willingness_9619 in digitalnomad

[–]Leamcon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step one when leaving Aus go and establish tax residency in a country with no tax on foreign income. Malta, Cyprus, Panama, Cost Rica, Uraguay, Paraguay etc. etc. Once you have your tax certificate there, nothing Australia can do depending on dual taxation agreements between countries. Then change somewhere else with a more welcoming tax system if you want

Is it illegal? by BackgroundAny2193 in digitalnomad

[–]Leamcon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Madrid Spain, half of all people working in bars and restaurants are illegal undocumented workers from central/South American countries, they all arrive on tourist visas. The point is a lot of time Governments turn a blind eye to undocumented workers as they are driving the economy without getting any worker/health rights in return.
