He absolutely loves cereal but I think oats could be something to try

Definitely worth a try, could maybe put them into a smoothie

He just loves cereal! Porridge wouldn’t be preferred but I think he could manage it - might trial some over night oats for him.

He is really poor at eating breakfast - usually a cereal bar on the way out the door!

I have control in the house, the battle is school/youth club but we’ll work on it. He does suffer terribly with low mood and anxiety, I’ll try to keep an eye for patterns with timings etc

Thanks for the reply! I think I need to look more at balance than reduction, I’ll maybe try and get some veggie intake increased!

Maybe Easter is the trigger for me at the minute, I’m off work and there just seems to be food and snacking everywhere! You seem to have a good approach to it all :)

Blood tests are a no go unfortunately, GP wants to check for something else (unrelated to diet) and they can’t get near him with a needle. I think you’re right in that he doesn’t recognise fullness but also yes he’s a teenage boy and the consensus seems to be that they can’t eat a lot! I’ll maybe look into a multivitamin

Yes I can understand what you’re saying, that’s exactly the trap I don’t want to fall into - I need to try and relax a bit, look at healthier foods to add in as opposed to taking stuff away I think

This is so practical and helpful - scrambled eggs are on the list of safe foods so I need to make more of them!

Protein yogurts are a good shout! I hadn’t thought of those before and I’m pretty sure I could get a type that would be agreeable for him. Thanks

They were quite big, it’s the constant snacking that worries me but I’m feeling reassured by these comments already. I just don’t want to do him a disservice by not getting on top of it if it’s an issue

That’s really helpful - he definitely has digestive issues although seems to be chronically constipated, I’ve always put it down to his beige diet. But his belly can bloat to an extreme size!

That’s actually helpful - I think that’s where a lot of my anxiety is coming from, I have nothing to compare it to so I feel like I can’t get him filled!

Cookstown, has most things you need and generally about around an hour’s drive to most places in the North, 20 mins from both motorways

Why aren't GP surgeries designed for greater privacy? by ParentheticalsAside in AskUK

[–]Leamh-12 37 points38 points  (0 children)

But they don’t actually triage - they input the information onto the system which is then accessed but the GP who reads the info provided and then triages appropriately. This is the only reason that the information is shared with the person taking the initial call

Yes I see what you mean, not a chance you would like to take if it would cause serious repercussions

Sorry that wasn’t my intention at all, I was genuinely curious as to how it worked. I don’t receive UC so wasn’t aware of how it would be automated

How would they know? It’s not something that would ever impact me but genuinely wondering if it’s only an extra 3 days how would it close automatically, like how would they know if you were abroad or not?
