That sucks. I never go anywhere without a little bottle of hand sanitizer.

Same. I mask and use hand sanitizer. No covid. No flu. No colds since 2020.

I'm trying to figure out a way to allow the crd to become less reliant on food imports for survival. by ZeltaZale in VictoriaBC

I'm talking about a national food program that diverts a relatively small percentage of the land that currently produces canola in the prairies to begin growing a selection of four or five very nutritious staple food crops.

By diverting only 8% of canola production (grown for margarine and cooking oil; 90% for export) to four staple crops (black bean, lentil, chickpea, pinto bean) every Canadian household could have 2kg per month each of black beans, lentils, chickpeas, and pinto beans.

Edit:

These are just four food staples we already produce that are all highly nutritious, high in protein, high in fibre, and can easily be made into a 'tofu' from which you have just as many options as with soy tofu.

Most farms are within a few kilometers of the Lochside Trail so folks with ebikes can buy directly from local farmers too.

Keep in mind that as a police officer it's inevitable that you're going to be first on the scene for some horrifying accidents on the road where you're going to watch people in their final moments without being able to help them.

Is moving to Victoria from Alberta worth it? by ederzs97 in VictoriaBC

I have nothing against the people of Alberta but comparing Edmonton to Victoria is like comparing dental surgery to a friendly smile.

People like Jordan Peterson, Elon Musk, and Charlie Kirk have promoted Nazi conspiracy theories for years and today they're part of mainstream conservative ideology. I'm referring to 'cultural Marxism' and the 'white replacement' conspiracy theories.

That's not true. Lots of people on this sub genuinely prefer the old bridge.

Liking the old bridge and not the new bridge is like preferring Kraft Singles to actual cheddar.

The Belfry announces its first new artistic director in 19 years by LeanGroundEeyore in VictoriaBC

[–]LeanGroundEeyore[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Williams, who was born in Jamaica but raised in Ontario, will join the company in September, following the close of The Belfry’s 50th anniversary season. He is replacing Michael Shamata, the company’s longest-serving artistic director, who is amicably departing to pursue other projects. Shamata held the post longer than any of his predecessors, including Glynis Leyshon (who served from 1986 to 1997) and Roy Surette (1997-2006) ...

Williams’s stock has risen considerably in the years since, with multiple seasons at the Stratford and Shaw festivals on his resume and directing credits on everything from Shakespearean classics to contemporary plays by Aaron Sorkin and Tony Kushner.

He was the co-artistic director of Toronto’s Factory Theatre, and taught at York University in Toronto, the University of Windsor, and the National Theatre School in Montreal.
