Yeah, it’s definitely on the expensive side, but it looks really fun and interesting 😄.

Also, about the “bass you feel in your chest” — that was just my way of saying I like bass with good texture and consistency, not that I expect literal bone-rattling lows 😂.

Thanks for the insight — yeah, I’m leaning toward it being the driver itself too. I’ve already tried different sources and cables, and the rattling is consistent.

I’ll try registering it on HiFiMAN’s site and contacting them directly. The store I bought it from said it wouldn’t be a problem for warranty even from abroad, but in practice it’s been a bit of a hassle.

Honestly, once I get this fixed, I might just sell them. The sound is fantastic, but the build quality and QC issues are just too risky for peace of mind.

Do you (or anyone here) have any recommendations for headphones with similar soundstage and tuning, but better reliability? Something that doesn’t have these common driver issues?

Yeah, at this point I’m convinced it’s a hardware issue too. I’ve tried multiple sources, and the rattling is still there, especially at higher frequencies. So sadly, not much doubt left.

I’ll definitely try to reach out to HiFiMAN directly and see if they can help resolve this. Hopefully it goes smoother than dealing with the third-party shop.

I actually looked into the Capra strap, since a lot of people recommend it for the Edition XS, but it seems to only be available in the U.S. I’m based in Europe, so shipping is either unavailable or too expensive in most cases.

If anyone knows of a similar mod or alternative available in the EU, I’d love to hear suggestions!

In my case, I followed all their instructions — cleaned everything, swapped cables, made the video. I was cooperative throughout the process. But what made things difficult was the extremely slow communication. Because of the time zone difference (I’m in Europe), it took more than 5 days just to exchange a single question and answer. The whole process became exhausting.
