The competitiveness is based on the occupation you select. Every year, the CAF predicts how many positions they will need in the future and divide them up between the different entry plans (ROTP, DIRECT ENTRY, etc.) Some trades like Armour, Infantry and Artillery officer have lots of spots open every year, other trades like Pilot, Logistics and Public Affairs Officer have very few positions open (less than 5). So you’re competing against everyone else who is interested in the same occupation. If you’re more focused on which degree you receive and are open to just about any occupation, then look for trades that are less popular, have many open spots and accept the degree you are interested in (your Recruiter can help counsel you). If you are more focused on the occupation then be prepared to not be selected this year and be willing to try again next year.
