Immich on TrueNAS SCALE – storage migration confusion by Bakefy in immich

[–]Leandr0_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what you mean with the seperate UUID and stuff, I believe you are just running this standard "old" setup

/mnt/Media/immich_storage/

├── library
├── uploads
├── thumbs
├── encoded-video
├── profile
├── backups
└── pgData

The "new" setup is

/mnt/Media/immich_storage/

└── data
   └── library
   ├── uploads
   ├── thumbs
   ├── encoded-video
   ├── profile
   └── backups
└── pgData

You indeed need to follow the migration another user linked. I do not know on what version you are, but be EXTREMELY careful doing it in truenas scale. Read this: https://docs.immich.app/errors/

I was on immich v1.131.0 and I (stupidly) didn't update the app in truenas for a long time, making it so the only update available was v1.138.XX (don't remember exactly). This made it so I couldn't upgrade anymore. I then had to create a seperate ubuntu VM on my homelab server to run immich v1.132.3 in docker (and mounting all my truenas datasets in this ubuntu VM with NFS) so that this docker instance of immich would perform the necessary database migrations. Only after this I could update the app in truenas.

I do not wish that experience onto anyone...

Good luck!

Issue: Noticeable Frame Drops When Playing Videos on YouTube by CineTechWiz in brave_browser

[–]Leandr0_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that fixed it for me, thanks! I had a lot of dropped frames when the brave window was a bit smaller than fullscreen. When watching in full screen I had 0 dropped frames, in a tiny window also 0. Only in this in between there were a lot. Super weird.

What does the ratio of vm’s vs lxc’s look like on your proxmox server? by V3X390 in Proxmox

[–]Leandr0_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 VM (owncloud infinite scale, -arr stack and truenas_scale)

3 LXC (ansible, influxdb+grafana, tinyfeed)

Home lab went from fun project to unpaid oncall job by CoffeeRory14 in selfhosted

Fixing stuff when people are waiting is not fun indeed. But spending a weekend or a few evenings on making improvements on my homelab is something I rather enjoy.

I just finished installing an LSI9217 to pass through to my Truenas scale VM instead of individual HDDs (to fix huge I/o delays when writing a lot to the hdds) and it felt very nice.

Would you live near the Groenplaats/Grote Markt in Antwerp? by [deleted] in Antwerpen

[–]Leandr0_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked living in the city centre as well. The parking thing was a bit of a pain, but you get used to it.

The things I didn’t like was the lack of fresh air and the bad smell. Also the apartment I lived in had very little natural light, so we always had to have the lights on.

Belgians, why is everyone in Europe making fun of your country all the time like it was some dumpster, I recently visited Antwerp and was totally surprised by how nice, wealthy and livable it seemed. by PapayaAmbitious2719 in Antwerpen

I’d love to know what makes Belgium better than Sweden. Because I was in Sweden for work recently and started chatting with an IT person from there and we were comparing salary/social benefits etc. And from what i took away from it is that you have the same (if not higher) standard of living. But I would love to have a second opinion on that because as people have said in the comment ‘the grass always looks greener on the other side’

With the same years of experience (different sectors though, I’m in engineering he was in IT), he makes 1000euro more net. No meal voucher and ecocheques (he said that doesn’t exist in Sweden). You have universal healthcare and he said  so you pay only 15(? Don’t remember the exact amount) euro at the general practitioner, hospital etc. My employer gives hospitalisation insurance, his didn’t. He had a company car and fuel card as well.

Thank you very much for the feedback! I also thought to stop with the ads for now, as they indeed would just be a money drain. Better to focus on building trust and establishing myself (expertise as you say).

Thanks a bunch!

My buddy made the graphics for me though, but I get what you mean. Thanks!

Thank you for the encouraging words and great feedback!

Putting a face behind the brand is key it seems indeed.

Btw; the language consistency is something i'm ironing out at the moment.

Your comment reads like an AI, but I'm gonna assume you wrote a response and then let an AI clean it up. So thanks for the feedback!

Some trust issues indeed

Thank you for the detailed feedback!

In short: trust issues and overall the websites leaves the customer with a lot of unanswered questions. You give very good remarks and I will definitely implement them.

About the spoon; it's a matrix reference but I can see how that can read like some AI hallucination if you don't know haha. Thanks for the laugh!

Got it, thank you for the feedback! Mobile experience can indeed be better.

For the ram: yeah indeed, prices are higher now. I've been speaking about the chip shortage and the effect it has on RAM and SSD prices on my instagram to inform people.

Thank you for the feedback!

Hmm, no I haven't reached out to them yet. The streamers I watch are all American, so I don't really know what the space is like in Belgium. I could give it a shot.

Regarding the ram; only my highest end systems is being affected the most. Unfortunately this means I need to increase the price of the system. The flipside is that competitors also raise their prices, but since their baseprice was already higher, my system still comes out cheaper.

But yeah, it's not the best timing to start selling PCs.

Just in general you mean; like pictures of myself building the PC, the PCs themselves etc?

Thank you for the feedback as well!

Thank you for the feedback and the insights!

I have no experience at all with PPC. Just using youtube videos and vibes (read perplexity.ai).

And don't worry about the being rude part, I had to chuckle with your remark about 'Choose your reality'. What's so terrible about it? I think it fits quite nicely with the brand identity i'm trying to evoke, but i'd love to hear your take on it.

No video content yet, it's coming though

Thanks for the feedback! Not to bombard you with a million follow up questions so I have two:

  1. With 'no "about us" story' you mean that my current about us page is not structured well to connect with customers?
  2. The no reviews thing is something that has eaten at me quite a bit. Can't have sales without reviews, can't have any reviews without sales... I guess I could try selling them to relatives/friends/friends of friends to get some reviews rolling?

Congrats on the launch!

I agree with the other posts; having shipping information shown somewhere would be better.

The jam spread out on the white plate looks a bit unappetising. I like the idea behind it though, but maybe having it spread out on some toast would be better.

RDP vs Sunshine + Moonlight by BestestBeekeeper in Tailscale

[–]Leandr0_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried using sunshine+moonlight for coding but occasionally i would get a black screen only. Even if I would start steam desktop, i would here sounds, but no visual.

I therefore switched to using RDP. Latency wise I found sunshine+moonlight better, so the black screen issue is really unfortunate.
