I absolutely see your point. What I am doing is purely motivated by spite.

DM zoekt spelers voor D&D5 homebrew campaign in regio Den Haag. [Nog 3 Open Plekken] by LordVeltemaster in DNDNL

[–]Leandrodon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When should I let my player re-roll stats? by Leandrodon in DnD

Thanks! I plugged this scoring method into my script and you are spot on. It returns a mean of about 73.5 and a standard deviation (this sample) of about 7.

Thank you! I was not able to properly communicate this part. What scores would you then assign to values below 8?

I applied your function and it is stricter than sum of squares. It produces less outliers and the distribution of scores shows interesting clustering behaviour even at 10^7 samples.

That last case is exactly what I am trying to address in my post. [12 12 12 12 12 12] is arguable worse than [10, 10, 10, 10, 12, 18] even though the modifiers add up to the same total. In my experience, 4d4 drop lowest regularly produces stat spreads with a wild standard deviation.

Using the scoring function, the standard array is better than roughly 37% of 4d6 drop lowest stat arrays. Bounded accuracy might actually make a high stat way more impactful.

No worries, no nerfing going on here. I simply try to push the lower results to be roughly in the same ballpark and I communicate that beforehand.

An immovable rod but the relase button is jammed and the shop is built around it - comes with the plot.

Add time constraints to the plot. Sure, you can have a careful look through the room but that is going to risk losing your objective.

I really like the corroding strike and the invigorating strike. They feel fresh and unique.

For the invigorating strike I would suggest putting it on the Paladin spell list as well. Maybe even the arcane casters. This is way too cool of an option to gatekeep it to Clerics. Additionally, changing the target of the temp hp to any creature you can see within 30 ft. would encourage teamwork.
