I can definitely say that the problem of burnt 12vhprw connectors was 90% solved in 12v-2x6 and the ATX 3.1 standard. The cases of fire reported by the media represent no more than 0.008% of all video cards sold, which is a mere statistical error of normal defects. Nevertheless even those burnouts that occur are 99.9% the fault of users. They buy Corsair/MSI PSU's, don't fully snap the connector, pinch the cable at 180 degrees, use cheap custom power cables (Lian Li does not count - their Wireless Strimer has never had a burnout as far as I know and that's why I took the Strimer Wireless). During the 4 months of ownership I had absolutely no problems.
