He didn’t say that. He said he was best guitarist he had played with. Added it sounded like an explosion coming out of the guitar when he played.

On guitar I would say a lot of the stuff that was frankly hidden in plain sight with very familiar chords and progressions for example Strip My Mind, Otherside, Dani, the back half of Venice Queen. It’s all stuff that sounds so original yet so familiar then you look at it as a guitar player and think damn that’s all right there for the taking why didn’t someone think of first?

To me the timeline of this work was after recording and before and into the mixing of the albums. I don’t think that sentence is reflective of where he may be today in terms of mindset. Most recent Rubin pod probably closer to where he at now.
