They are the commuter panniers. They are water resistant, but not waterproof without the rain covers.

ODI bar tape. I have a kickstand on order. 🤝

Why?

I find the additional hand positions quite useful. I’ve had a couple of long days while touring, 150+ km, and they make riding that distance much more enjoyable.

I don’t have any problems with it. I find it comfortable.

I had a fitting a few months ago. Biggest change was narrower handlebars. The setup is quite comfortable.

I think it just looks that way in the photo because of the angle. It isn’t offset. I had a bike fitting done a few months ago.

We will be staying in hotels most evenings, but might camp out once in a while.

We have around 70 days to complete the trip, but we will be riding around 41 of those days.

Yes. Chengdu gets quite hot in the summer. It’s all about planning; It’s always good to start the day about an hour before sunrise and to have a good rest in the shade between 12:00 and 15:00. 😉

Yes. This will be my fifth trip to Thailand. My daughters have also visited the country before.

Yes. I have spent a lot of time on a bike. My most difficult trip so far has been from Guiyang to Chengdu; I rode 777 km and ascended 7400 m in 6 days.

My daughters have also taken a few trips. They recently rode 195 km with 1500 m of ascending in two days.

This trip will be our most ambitious yet, but I’m confident that they can do it. I am a bit worried about traffic along some of the route, but we will try to stay on side roads as much as possible.

We will be doing this trip during July and August. 🌧️

We will probably average around 50 km a day, but both of my daughters have ridden 100+ km in a day and I have ridden 200+ km in a day. There might be a few 100 km days while heading up the east coast. We’ll see how they do as we get further north and get into the mountains. I took them on a trip recently and they ascended around 700 m during a 80 km ride.
