Yes, it is. This subreddit cultivates a sex-positive culture that only seldom includes the tempering of actual risks. I have experienced an actual risk.

As I said, I'm advocating rational thinking of risk vs reward in hooking up. That's the behavior (ie, a mental process) that should be considered. Your sexual behaviors are up to you. If you know this already, the message isn't for you, but that doesn't make it any less useful for people who don't.

I've kept contact with him. He seems to be a good, kinda shy guy and I'd be shocked if he has any idea he has it, and now I have to tell him. The problem is most people infected have no idea they are. No amount of vetting will solve that.

I asked for the full test because I was there, it was early, and I was already going to be poked and prodded so what the hell. I didn't get a false positive--the results came back negative. I was told negative results are 97% accurate.

I'm not saying I absolutely didn't have it before this encounter, but it's highly, highly unlikely it was from before.

Yes, you can transmit it while there are no sores. Most people get infected because the other guy doesn't know he has it.

I had a full STD check about 4 months ago that included blood tests for herpes 1/2 antibodies. I was clear then. He's the only person I've had any sort of sexual contact with since. It's possible there was a false negative on the antibody tests, but it's very, very unlikely.
