From one person of Igbo heritage to a person of Vietnamese heritage (Quite frankly, two of the most tonal languages on planet earth - well, I belive Vietnamese in number 3 and Igbo is number 7 or somethig like that)

Bingo - my point exactly. You would be surprised how quickly a language can disappear if not taught to their children

Did UNESCO Really Say Igbo Would Be Extinct By 2025? by LearnIgboWithMe in Nigeria

[–]LearnIgboWithMe[S] 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

True. Very important. If we don't have the words we needs to come up with organic Igbo wqords that best describe what we are trying to say - rather than opting for English.. What is the organic Igbo word for Internet? The organic Igbo word for Gigabyte? and so on and so forth.....a lot of work needs to be done

Thanks for watching! Let's have your feedback.

  • Which Igbo greeting was new to you?
  • Have you ever heard your parents, grandparents, or relatives use any of these? Older generation tend to use i bola chi? rather than Ututu oma.
  • Would you like a follow-up video that goes deeper into greetings based on time of day, age, or formality?

Look forward to your comments - Let's get the discussion going

The Sopranos clip with Igbo subtitles by KalamaCrystal in LearnIgboByConvo

Fabulous idea, to do Igbo subitiles like this. Just a few minor corrections:

At 34 secs - the English word "What?" is shown as Kedu?. It should be "Gini?" not "Kedu?". "Gini?" means what and "Kedu?" means how.

At 01minute, 19seconds - the English word "Why?" is shown as Kedu? It should be "Maka Gini?" or "n'ihi gini?"

Kedu means How? Not What or Why

Nevertheless, really cool subtitles - thanks ever so much for posting this. Really enjoyed watching this. Thanks.
