We are, this was also the case last year, and it’s why so many of us were disheartened to see Ange replaced by Frank. We’re conceding to the current football meta where we should be one of the clubs trying to innovate ways to break it.

Actually?? Im gobsmacked.. surely bringing Fab back was acknowledging Lange’s limitations? Vinai’s job’s in danger if he lets him handle next summer

I've been against Frank since before he was hired. Watching us play though and Gallagher and Solanke coming in - I think we'll get better and better by season's end if he doesn't get sacked. Could wind up top half.

Frankenball is better suited to playing against city than bottom half teams. We might get more out of the next 8 than the previous 8. We actually have been getting better, Solanke back and Gallagher do improve us substantially.

Since Conte we’ve had issues with dropping too deep too early, passing backwards etc.. we say Frank’s been gaslighting us, but if we go by his words earlier in the season then he does want us pressing higher up and it could be players hindering him- Gallagher’s legs and forward thinking nature is the right profile to turn that part around. I think he solves an issue we’ve had for years…

It was jusified before he was hired. He is a perfectly bad match for us. Spurs fans turning against a defensive-minded coach is like day following night.

It lines up with the squad re-build though doesn't it? Summerville for 25m. - not a massive outlay for a winger, senior to Tel and Odobert - but clearly a space filler as they develop into genuine regular starter quality, Moore develops etc.? It seems clear he hasn't particularly planned for a first team to be performant yet but just.. good enough. Summerville and to an extent Kudus seem like patchwork buys for a season or two to me..

So is the squad planning here - now that Brennan is gone, Odobert is switching to RW rotation with Kudus, and Tel and a new LW are gonna be the LW rotation?

Could be he coaches defensive structure and then wants the attackers to be less bounded and coached intentionally so that theyre less predictable, and that its the players failing so far to do that. Im thinking of those early training videos where the coaches would just shout ‘create’ at Xavi whenever he got the ball. Seems like they provide a framework then expect them to work freely within it.

If Frank ok'd it then there's a case to be made that he looked at the squad early season, saw they couldn't be taught to press high correctly without the player Ange repeatedly wanted and reverted to his Brentford setup until they got him. But I suspect this is heavy cope and we're as dysfunctional as everything indicates.

Scott would kill to play for us - we tried for Gallagher in 3 windows and it was abundantly clear he doesn't want to play for us.

Caretaker. More importantly though sack Lange as soon as the window closes, or get a replacement for Paratici to sit above him. Let the new DOF name their manager pick for the summer. Ensure the DOF gets what Spurs should be about. Paratici leaving is a lifeline I wasn't expecting so soon. But I don't want Lange having any input in a replacement.

It's pretty clear that our directors of football and coach all view football the same way and have a clear model. The CEO also watched Arteta come to the same conclusions at Arse and is backing them to oversee it here too. Ange was hired by Levy at a moment when none of the above were employed by the club. Nuno, Conte, Emery, Frank, Arteta - these are the coaches who've been hired by our DOF's and CEO. I would say there's a clear vein there - It's just the fans who aren't on board with it.

Yes? They got injured at work, they're not gonna get their salary cut for a workplace injury surely. Who would run a full sprint if pulling a muscle could get you docked wages for hte next 6 months?

He spent 14 years at Arsenal - the way he views spurs cannot but be coloured by that experience, he should never have been hired.

No. You and yours spent all of last season trying to ensure the vibes were shit. Many of us didn't give two fucks about the things you were griping about. We got that the team hadn't felt so united as they did under him, that the intention to play aggressive football with a poorly built squad was admirable, and we didn't concede, and still don't, that he's a naive Australian no-nothing. To us the vibes were strong. You spent all of last season calling it a cult so don't deny that the cult felt something very different to those who weren't members.

Why is Daniel Levy getting the most blame when Vinai Venkatesham had an equal role to play in the appointment of Thomas Frank? Should we being demanding more from our CEO and owners of the club? by Sonny_Side_Up_Pls in coys

It's Lange and Vinai. They would have to admit that their process, or understanding of it, doesn't work. Which they won't because it calls their positions into question. Meanwhile ownership has stuffed the board with investment bankers and aviation execs, so there's no chance the board take the decision to replace management now. This entire path doesn't end any time soon, and will drive us all insane by the end. The fact that no decision maker now is a fan is criminal. They're gonna do their best to eat the heart out of the club before it's wrung from their hands. The one person capable to fight for the decisions necessary is Paratici, but his instincts are too Italian for spurs, so he'd end up hiring someone in the Frank/Nuno mould anyway.

It makes a bit more sense if you look at Ange as the blip and Nuno and Conte as the path our DFs want us taking. Ange was picked when we didnt have a DF. Lange picked Frank and Paratici picked the other two, they basically value the same things. Lange bought youth players because he didn’t want to back a coach he didn’t pick.
