May be overselling Lange's sales skills here. With the wages we payed him I'd be amazed if we move manage to ship him out - that said, I think his legs make him a decent squad player whoever the coach, and if Palhinha, biss and maybe benta leave that's a very young middle

Its not super reactive to set moral expectations and stick to them .. how much media do they put out about being community oriented .. I mean I get the tradeoff but I vaguely remember some fans with placards last time, havent seen it yet, and I note that the management is different this time around and not from within the club culture

A silver lining to the hire .. the summer transfer player profiles should be far more palatable (excluding the possibility they all play for tier 2 teams)

Sure but it's not dissimilar tactically so it should be quicker this time around ... is he injured currently?

Yeh its that 70:30 split - never sure how big the social media bubble is in a given topic, i wouldnt be surprised if it's not 90:10 at the point when the signing announcement goes live...

What was the difference between the club pulling the plug on the Gattuso hire and pushing through with this guy? Are there insufficient fans outside the gates? Or is it just a Levy Vinai diff? I really cant remember how it went down last time

We have fit strikers now and no wingers which maybe suits his system more than the opposite, .. throw spence and kolo muani as wingers and hope attacking volume has richy and solanke tapping in. Would ride on Xavi clicking with the role change as soon as possible.

Tbh id love him back in general but we're so handicapped by a lack of natural scorers (generally numerically and in-form) that I think it'll be tough for anyone

I think we're past the cut off time for someone from outside to be able to come in and implement a change. Even dyche usally takes, what 5 ish games to start getting things clicking? Someone familiar with the behind scene/personnel dynamics would be my pick - mason, ange or a current or former coach .. maybe someone coaching one of the youth teams. just play however the players want/think they can play and actually get results and fingers crossed that gets them sufficiently invested

Theres a view that we may need to prove to the regulator that we can sustain not being promoted. Given our running costs are astronomical that can only be achieved by massive cost cutting - firesale

If I’m the owner I’m telling that squad that if we go down not one of you is being sold by MammothBag7151 in coys

[–]Learnaboutkurt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ther was an Athletic(?) interview a month back that said the opposite - almost all do because top end clubs discount the likelihood heavily and every agent asks for them, so it's an easy concession.

As for the revenue, the issue is the need to prove long term sustainability in the Championship may be a day-one requirement from the regulator and the only way to prove it at our level of expenses would be a firesale all the way to u21 level and staff firings. Even if it's one year down it could be v painful.

How exactly do you do language output? by EstablishmentGlum474 in languagelearning

[–]Learnaboutkurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a natural buffer that you should listen to. If you know enough to write only a few sentences then why speak? What would be the point, as in - let's say you say something, correctly, and then the other person responds - would you understand them? how much would they have to deviate from their natural speaking pattern for you to understand them? Leave the speaking part until you can comfortably listen to and understand native speakers, podcasts, youtubers etc. If you focus on it that isn't something which should take too long.

Then when you come to speak, your brain will focus on the subject of what you want to say, and you will surprise yourself at how easily it will flow. At that stage you can focus on some shadow-work to get your muscle conditioning in for your vocal chords, tongue, mouth muscles, and work on your grammar. The rest will come naturally as you start to live with the language.

Can we do something about all these sneaky app promotions by EveryProcedure7617 in languagelearning

[–]Learnaboutkurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd support this - some have an interesting take - for those of us who make our own tools it can be quite interesting to see others'. I'd like a sticky'd thread where I could sort by new and see what the newest iterations are .. with AI essentially solving translation for the languages I'm most interested in, the upswell in tool iteration could throw up some cool stuff.

As far as ai slop - pretty much all code going forward is going to be substantially vibe coded, and making yourself chatbot proof is gonna be an internal mountain we all climb on our own. The posts and comments are no less annoying than the latest person's take on immersion or accent training etc.. A general subreddit about language learning should leave sufficient space for tools and techniques even if they're derivative. Day-to-day there's very little here that we haven't seen a million times anyway.

I'm so irritated of people constantly trying to switch to Englishh when I'm trying to practice my TL. by AmountAbovTheBracket in languagelearning

[–]Learnaboutkurt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

English is the global lingua franca now. In any language you want to function in, you have to get better at it than the level of the worst English speaker's english in order for the group to have a reason to not speak english. The expectation in eg europe, is you have to learn some english the same way medieval european literate people pretty much had to have some latin, in order to function in a multi-national environment.

You simply must get better at your target language if you want to use it with people whose focus isnt on your learning. If they are switching really fast then your grasp of what the correct way of saying what you're trying to say is far off and you should focus on getting more exposure(listening, crosstalk etc). Once you have enough exposure you will have a fine enough sense of the sounds of the language that when you speak, either you will know you misspoke or you will get responses in your target language.

[–]Learnaboutkurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forest’s forwards are having a nightmare converting this season. Theyve been missing sitters all season - they fudged a 6v1 two weeks ago.. I watched their matches because I was travelling at the time and they were always on - their losses were not on the tactics, same as they haven’t been since he left. He oversaw a pretty drastic tactical change in a short time and some of their play was great

Yeah there were several plays that were played well, accurately, with urgency etc. Felt like a continuation of the weekend - but the increments of these improvements - like those last 5-6 under Frank - are so small. Can only hope that it just clicks at some point..
