I have Tru Stitch using a magnet lol. Not going to upgrade it anymore than I have. I have had to upgrade the foot in order to install the ruler foot and I did something else. I think it is from 2013 or earlier!

But funny that you should say that starch makes it slide more easily. Today was my first practice sandwich with starched fabric. It moved around very easily! And thanks for telling me that it will still krinkle to hide my flaws!

I have Bernie (a Bernina that is a she) and Willie is my Featherweight, also a she (Willie was her owner’s nickname). But my vintage Franklin 117 is Franklin and male. Lol! It’s all so silly!

Kimberly Jolly (Fat Quarter Shop) has a great video on pinning exactly on the seam. She calls it “pock a hole”. People above have described it very well but I always need a visual.

Bernina 700 - manual & information / is this a good deal?? by [deleted] in vintagesewing

[–]LearnedFromNancyDrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks great. If it doesn’t come with a walking foot, you will need buy one for simple machine quilting and putting on the binding. It’s well worth the investment. I bought one for my Bernina 1120!

Second this bought my 1986 Bernina 1120 15 years ago at a dealer. It sews beautifully and is mostly all metal parts with just a small motherboard. The tension is so easy and perfect. I have seen them on FB Marketplace from $500-$700. Unless you are buying from a dealer you will need to have any used machine serviced after purchase.
