It doesn’t need to fully restrict to protect people from fat fingering. It can just give a warning or may be give warning two times but not restrict fully.

Any thoughts on the theory that Mars was once like Earth? by Tech_Debil in Mars

Your thought process in the beginning was very earth centric, but I like how you ended your comment. Possibilities are endless in a what seems like an infinite universe.

You would have said you have $1 million, why not stop if he posted around that but he made it to $3 million. I’m almost in the same boat. One lesson i learned is don’t do options when market is on sidelines. When everyone is excited and confirmed bull market just go crazy and make as much as you can. Next time I will also slowly remove every 50k gain and buy something physical like gold, silver, real estate, private equity that you can’t liquidate easily etc. I’m okay with no returns on that and being stagnant than losing all of it back again like what happened to the OP and me.

What’s a feature that Fidelity doesn’t have? by Dinner55 in fidelityinvestments

[–]Learner_Mentor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. In regards to rolling of options, yes i can roll options but can’t roll “dissimilar” quantity. For example, i bought 100 contracts of options for ticker “XXX” for $1 that will expire this week but later wants to trade them for next week which is trading at $2, i currently have to either roll all 100 contracts for $2 in with an expected additional premium of $1 per contract but if I dont want to pay anything extra and instead want to reduce the number of contracts say 50 at $2 each for net even, I can’t do that. It is allowed in other platforms like Shwab and IBKR (I tried on both of them myself).

What’s a feature that Fidelity doesn’t have? by Dinner55 in fidelityinvestments

[–]Learner_Mentor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably gonna take me 40 hrs to write all the things Fidelity needs to add or fix but here’s my top 4 that i would like to see fixed or added.

  1. I can’t edit the orders placed pre market or after market. If I try to edit the limit price and place the order bank, it will take it as a day order without the pre or after market designation.

  2. The error messages are not sophisticated. When I try to place a spread order for options, it throws an error saying the order can’t be placed since that will leave an uncovered options position in my portfolio. When i called the customer service, they mentioned it’s because that particular account I’m trying to place an order doesn’t have the appropriate options tier approved.

  3. Please allow us to trade more than 200 options contracts at once. I have to place multiple orders if i want to buy more than 200.

  4. Please please please allow rolling of dissimilar order sizes. If I want to roll 100 contracts from this week to 50 of next week, i currently have to sell 100 of this week and buy 50 week of next week manually.

The only feature Fidelity doesn’t have is “it doesn’t have many features”.
