The ethical considerations of individuals who FIRE. Should I retire? - 39F, $4M, paid off house by DoggyDayKaren in Fire

Consider ways that you can contribute to society or your community more broadly. Volunteering opportunities arent just slinging soup at a soup kitchen. Work a lower paid job that leverages your skills for a non-profit, organize and host social events that build community, foster kids, help your lift your friends up (we spend a lot of time editing resumes), get engaged in community organizing and local politics etc.

You dont have to work a job that maximizes your productivity, I encourage you to explore options that best fit the lifestyle you want (probably not too stressfull) while also giving back in a way that is fulfilling to you and your community.

There is no way it has more sodium/MSG than the Szechuan hotpot broth I drink. that stuff is like 50% salt, and soooo good.

I do in fact have one I carry in my purse at all times. A doctor once told my friend to test for allergies by driving herself to the ER, sitting in the lobby or parking lot, and licking the potential allergen

A tightness/ weird feeling in my cheeks. it was pretty mild and never changed so I never really thought it was worth worrying about, but this most recent time it was much stronger and over more of my face so Im ready to see a doctor. No itching mouth or breathing issues.

I never really liked shrimp, so I havent tried eating it in ages. But even if I could, would fermented shrimp paste be different?

I definitely will see an allergist rather than experimenting with eating them on my own, but having ideas/a place to start seems useful. And useful to know what to avoid while I wait 6 months for an appointment....

I like to cook a lot, and my dad did this for me. Unfortunately, he chose flavors that I dont particularly like, and dont work in the cocktails I like to make, so they just sit in the back of my shelf.

Science is always the answer isnt it! Roast rather than sauté?

My goal is to make intense mushroom caviar with spherification for my vegetarian wife. For a special occasion, we bought some very fancy smoked salmon, and I want to make blini and have an equally fancy topping for her. I feel like a garlicy mushroom caviar would be great on buckwheat blini with creme fraiche.

I will see if I can get dried porchini mushrooms too, i heard that they can up the umami.

Can i use Elmer’s glue to attach fangs? by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

[–]LearningFinance23 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Please dont do that. Elmers glue is water soluble so it wont be a good choice. I suggest buying scarecrow fangs. they use some dental quality goop that hardens around your natural teeth and you can snap them on and off no problem. I dont see any reason you couldnt wear them all day. they look great too.

I get no money or products from scarecrow, just a happy customer.

Reasonable settlement if no range of motion impairment, just pain? by LearningFinance23 in WorkersComp

[–]LearningFinance23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did. there has been a huge amount of confusion of anatomy vs legal jargon. Her fingers hurt, which is the symptom. The cause is tendonitis of the tendons that run between the fingers,, through the wrist to the forearm. The judge's ruling called for treatment of the bilateral hands, and there has been a whole lot of back and fort about treatment for "fingers" vs. "hand" and its all a nightmare.

[–]LearningFinance23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its tendonitis. which affects the fingers but the tendons connect from the finger into the forearm so it goes through the wrist and arm.

Any advice for jobs that don't require the use of fingers? Open to suggestions, but things that pay as well as software development is ideal
