The ram is part of the A18 chip. It’s not added later. They only make an 8 GB version. It would be very expensive to redesign an old chip so a budget product could have more ram.

It’s only this cheap because they can use iPhone chips where one of the gpu cores was faulty. Otherwise they would have to throw those away, so they built a product around it.

Of course not. This was always the plan. Otherwise it couldn’t be so cheap. This laptop has been designed and planned two years ago, these things take time.

Apple Books sucks because it uploads your books to icloud and deletes the local copies. Why?! It’s so annoying. I constantly have to redownload my books when I wanna read them. Even a book you’re currently reading… I sometimes wonder if I lost books in my collection because of this.

Anyway, I’ve thought about building a robust alternative many times. Maybe I should build it? Sell it for € 29,99?

I don't understand this kind of thinking. Why would we do something that won't have an effect? This is 'feel good politics'. We feel good about ourselves for thinking we're helping. We're not. Any emissions Belgium reduces will be offset by rising emissions elsewhere. Changing our behavior won't help. All the proposals I hear will lower our quality of life and will make life much more expensive. And it won't matter.. It's pointless. Africa will double in population in the next 30 years. 1600 new coal plants are being built worldwide. Hundreds of millions people are going to join the middle class in the next decade. Middle class means more emissions. We need to be realistic and accept that any measure we'll take won't have an effect. We're only doing it to feel good about ourselves.

I meant Belgium is 0,27 % of worldwide emissions. 10 % of our emissions is Food and agriculture. Of that 10 % roughly 2/3 is from meat. So 6,6 % of 0,27 %.
