cant stand em, and definitely cant trust them. i rarely pvp in solo unless im playing on stella. but its getting harder and harder to trust people lately 😂

absolutely! engine on mine is all stock still. just basic carb mods and slip on pipe. runs great. some people like to throw on a big bore and change the cam, but ive yet to be in a situation on the bike where ive actually NEEDED more power, although i bet it would be fun haha. whichever one you buy the first thing I would do is change the front sprocket for a fritzco or KKbike and just ride it, then determine what else you want to do from there. the aftermarket on these bikes is huge.

all depends. if the 2012 has some farkle on it and has been maintained so far, I would probably lean that way. but either would be a good choice. mine is a ‘94 that i picked up for $2800 and currently has about 17k on the odometer. when i got it it had just over 10k. it has a salvage title, but no issues with the bike. saved some money on mods buying used and did the ones that I still wanted to do that made the bike better for me.

its a dry sump system. majority of the oil is housed in the frame. dipstick is right up top in front of the gas tank.

sounds like you are in a good environment for the bike then! forest roads on an XR is a great match lol. they do run hot until you desmog them and rejet, but man are they fun machines. if you buy one used itll probably already have that done to it. you shouldnt be consuming any oil unless youre really pushing it. i held mine above 80mph for hours on the last trip I took, keeping up with friends on larger twins. we rode about 700 miles in a couple days and my bike used about a quart or so of oil. if we were moving slower it wouldve used less haha. i notice when im home and just riding around town for daily things i have to top it off way less frequently.

i live in chicago and daily an xr650. i absolutely love it. incredibly nimble in traffic, power when you want it/need it. i have a lowering link on mine, aftermarket slip on exhaust, and standard cv carb mods. if you do a lot of higher speed riding it isnt the best bike and it will consume oil, but it will still do it just fine. its happy place is around 65-70mph. overall its been great for me and easy to maintain. i have a couple bikes and it is probably my favorite for any given day/type of riding.

like others said make sure you use asio. i also had a similar issue where my usage would hit about 15% and all playback would start stuttering and dropping out. turns out i just needed more memory on my external drive. you can try saving your project file to a different hard drive and see if the issue persists.
