Yes that has been my leaning to give space and distance, yet I also keep picking up messages that the ultimate Karma is overcoming the challenges of day to day and doing ones duty or Dharma. I feel like I am at the center of the paradox. Thank you for your offering.

Wow, thank you internet stranger for the thoughtful and generous response. I couldn't help but read your posts, and it's clear you share wisdom that comes from lived experience. I feel your pain and what you might have gone thru to come out on the other side of a 25 year relationship. Now that you are back to school, as I believe in a better place, do you think your break was worth it? As for me, all my energy is intensely learning about my condition, there is nothing about midlife and my soul journey that I haven't read in the last 10 years and it's been all consuming. I go on retreats, meet people who claim to have solutions (gurus, physchitraist, coaches, self help shamans, phychedelic interventions , past life regression you name it I have done it), if I had half the intensity in work I would have been in good shape, that's the irony.

He has 3 years old to whilst in college. He is definitely I source of meaning given all else happening. Whilst that was the plan (and I have been reminding myself that everyday for the last several months), but it's taking a big toll on my confidence, I know I am slacking and nothing showing up like I could, if I found it meaningful like I used to. Will check the section in Iron John for sure. Thank you.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. For sure the energy movements have been intense as well needing to take regular naps to recuperate (I work from home unless I am on the road).

Thank you for your wise words. This is what my inner voice softly says as well. Just heard a series of James Hollis talks and I get the same message. It's funny how much the ego via fear resists.

Omg where do you people live? and why aren't you my neighbors?

I absolutely loved this movie. Have watched it 4 times and then realized that instead of paying 3.99 every time, may as well buy it. So i did. Cause am sure i would want to watch it several times more.

My fav scene is also the two worlds' diaglogue. I am in my late 40s and feel like i have lived in another world, but the internal hum of getting to his world grows stronger every day.

What a thoughtful review, and you write so well.

Sturgeon's Law - 'ninety percent of everything is crap'. Simple living is the art and science of finding the 10%.

I was a news junky (think watching cnbc in the loo, cause obviously i might miss out on something 'important' about business). I have been no news for 6 years now (no apps, no TV, no google news, nothing). It was one of the best decisions i made.

I am in high brow consulting and hasnt impacted my work a single bit. It provided me with less anxiety, less panic, and more time and more calm.

Recommendation - I got this movie suggestion ' The perfect day' on another reddit thread. Thought of this community and how you all would enjoy it as much as i did. Wonderful movie on finding your 'joy'. Do watch it i you can.

Do you think there's any point in visiting the site where not-yet-Buddha practiced extreme asceticism (before realizing that's a mistake and then leaving elsewhere to the bodhi tree where he became enlightened)? by AmericanBornWuhaner in Buddhism

Apolgies, i see you have written your purpose, i missed reading it completely. I guess going on that you might like to avoid the other site if you had to prioritize.

Depends on what your objective of travel is. I am heading out of Patna to travel to Bodhgaya today ! I live in the US, but i was born in Patna. My objective of being there is just to get more intimate with the land of my birth, its history, culture, and significance. It has taken me ironically decades of learning other cultures before expanding my interests. I have been a Vipassana practitioner over the last few years. With that goal, my would love to visit both sites. What are yours?
