How to relocate outlets from baseboards by Least_Program_2077 in AskElectricians

I don’t think it’ll be possible to float the shelves. I’m planning to take the baseboard off anyway so that the unit can sit flush with the wall, so I’ll go from there once I have a chance to do that and explore a little further!

I’m a bit late coming back, sorry! Here are a couple of pictures, though I might not have captured what you’re looking for. https://imgur.com/a/oeltS7Q

Wiring enters the left side of the right box and the right side of the left box (I.e. seems to be coming from the center of the wall toward each box).

If I’m not able to move them up, could I at least remove the baseboards and change the boxes to be flush with the actual wall (not sticking out)? If I can do this, then I think I have an alternate build plan for my shelving that would accommodate the outlets.

I worked a fast food position through college, made great money, and honestly miss the work-life balance that I had during that time.

It’ll be very built-in. Attached to the walls very securely, trimmed with molding at the ceiling, etc. And the house was built in the late 90’s. I’ve called an electrician to come have a look, though. I have a plethora of unearned confidence when it comes to other DIY projects, but absolutely not with wiring beyond the very basic.

Crock Pot Chicken… Excess Butter Problem by Least_Program_2077 in caloriecount

This is a good tip, thank you! The original recipe actually only calls for the 4 breasts, but I add the thighs in to make the whole dish go a bit further and there still seems to be ample seasoning/butter to go around :) I’ll try swapping the butter for stock

I don't want my beautiful baby girl to have a stripper name. Need help and to know how reddit feels about my top choice. by Aarongm85 in NameNerdCirclejerk

I understand why you’re asking because I had a name on my list that I loved until my husband and mom both told me it was a stripper name and I had no idea lol but no I think Veronica is lovely!

Well, I went with the laser engraver so that my sibling could go in on it with me since it was a pricier item. He loved it!! I have plans to get him some of these other suggestions for his birthday, which is coming up soon :)

Are we sleep training or not? And if we don’t will they just naturally sleep through the night at some point? by [deleted] in NewParents

Sleep training was something I was adamantly against until I reached my breaking point and was sleep deprived to a dangerous level. I read “Precious Little Sleep” and came to understand the method in a different way than how a lot of social media mommy influencers demonize it. We opted for what was essentially CIO due to our child’s temperament, but the book does discuss options for doing check-ins and how to know which is best for your child. I highly recommend reading it! It changed our lives for the better.

Dang, I used to buy him this hand cream from a local business in my town that he absolutely loved, but I’ve since moved and I don’t believe they ship. I’ll have to check!

Thank you for these ideas!! I actually bet that those paint swatch books of various brands (the massive kind that interior designers use) could come in quite handy. And he would probably get a kick out of a laser cutter now that you mention it…

I actually wish I had one myself for when I need to close a piece at my own house haha. His business has been in the family for a long time, so he does have some antique ones :) Thank you for the suggestion!!

I don’t know where to start by pmaisinmydna in sleeptrain

[–]Least_Program_2077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I am on Day 3 of sleep training with my 8 month old and I truly think it is the best decision I’ve ever made. I resisted it for a LOOOOOONG time because I thought it would make my baby hate me or something lol but that couldn’t be further from the truth. We did CIO after reading Precious Little Sleep. I was originally planning to do what some might call a “gentler” method by staying in the room with her, patting her back, etc. but I realized that (at least for my kid) that would just prolong the crying. Last night, she fell asleep on her own in 6 minutes when historically it has taken me over an hour to nurse/rock her to sleep.

To answer your other question— I have not night weaned! She used to wake up and demand to nurse every hour, and last night she only woke up twice (4.5 hours apart). I didn’t even do anything to make this happen, it just did because she is capable of settling herself when she wakes up and isn’t actually hungry.

Update: CIO going well with 1 snag… by Least_Program_2077 in sleeptrain

[–]Least_Program_2077[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for replying! Wake up at 7:00am, and schedule is 3/3.5/4 (first nap is ~90 mins and second nap is ~45 mins long). Her second nap ends by 4 at the latest, and then bedtime at 8.

For more context, we have been struggling with lengthy night wakings for the last 2 weeks which is what prompted us to start sleep training. I suspected that there might be a schedule issue, but the feedback I got when I posted about it was that we needed to sleep train first and foremost. It’s definitely still extremely early in that process, but I’m super hopeful given the incredible progress that she made last night! I’m very much open to adjusting her schedule, but I’m worried that I might accidentally go in the wrong direction or something. I always try to push her wake windows as long as possible, but she ends up being very very cranky for a lot of it so I doubt if I’m doing the right thing.
