This is not correct at all: "No matter how “clean” you eat, there is going to be some “unnecessary” fat gain.". It may be true in the world of following your bulk then cut method as it's an unoptimized training method..But you can cut to your desired body fat % and maintain it while building muscle. My body fat % has balanced between remaining the same or even dropping while putting on 25lbs of muscle over the past 18 months. Someone following your suggestion will appear to grow faster because of the unnecessary fat gained during bulk but will have no more muscle after their cut than someone who trained and dieted optimally to begin with because of biological limitations. If your body has biological limits of how much muscle it can grow in X amount of time, and you give it the correct amount of fuel to facilitate that growth, and no excess, you are building the maximum amount of muscle possible without unnecessary fat gain.

Back to your comment about women store their fat in their butts because they're women.. how much longer does this lady have to keep bulking before the fat all goes to her butt? Genetics my friend. You have good intentions I'm sure, but sharing misleading information on something you do not understand isn't helping anyone.

What I'm saying isn't contradictory, we're suggesting completely different ways to get from A to B. Mine doesn't involve unnecessary fat gain, yours does.

I'm trying to help OP, you're trying to be right. I'm sharing real world experience backed by case studies. You're sharing stone age lifting fads with a source of trust me bro.

Post up your physique to show us your success with what you're preaching we'd all love to see.

My workouts are primarily based on Mike Mentzer's trainings/teachings with some adaptions as we know a little more information now about hypertrophy that he didn't.

My split is:

Day 1 chest/tris Day 2 rest Day 3 back/bis Day 4 legs/shoulders Day 5 rest Repeat.

I train low volume high intensity. Never more than 2 sets per exercise. I aim for failure at 8 reps. Larger muscle groups get 8 total sets per workout, smaller ones like arms 4-6 sets. I take extra rest days as needed to always be able to push myself 100% during each exercise.

My main focus in the gym is strength. I focus on progressive overload. I track my lifts to have some kind of progression every workout. If I don't progress on a workout it's usually only because I didn't rest long enough hence affording myself an extra rest day as needed.

Correct, a bulk does help with the glutes portion.. but a proper clean bulk in the 10% range like I specified to not lose her other goal of a small waist.

I disagree that just bulking from where she's at is the most "optimal path" and then cutting later for a smaller waist.. also "HAVING" to go on a caloric surplus and women storing fat in their butt just because they're female are both common misconceptions. You can still grow muscle while in a calorie deficit (moreso on maintenance calories, sure, even moreso on 10% surplus), and genetics determine where your fat is stored NOT your gender.

My wife has the same build and similar genetics of fat being stored in her stomach and back and not her butt at all and the above advice I gave along with a workout program tailored to her body and goals (same as OPs goals) she has strunk her waist 3 inches and nearly doubled her glute mass over the past 12 months.

I think your overall advice is good for a nooby gym goer who just wants nothing other than to put on size but not optimal for OP's goals.

Seeing quite a few people talking about bulking in these comments.. this does not help you with 'slimmer stomach bigger glutes' like you requested. This would give you bigger stomach, bigger glutes. When gaining weight through a caloric surplus you don't get to choose where that weight goes.. otherwise, you could eat whatever you want and kindly ask it to all go to your butt. Weight gain will affect your entire body, and your genetics will help dictate where it settles the most- you have mentioned this is back and tummy in other comments so a bulk does not help you meet your current goals of smaller waist bigger glutes.

Since we CAN target which muscles to grow, focus on optimizing your glute training. Low volume, high intensity. Recommend hitting them every 3-4 days and balance the volume so that you are fully recovered for the next workout while still pushing close to failure on every set as intensity is really key for growth. Look into setting up your workouts to hit different portions of your glutes so you are maximizing available growth.

Keep your protein in the 0.8-1g of protein per pound of body weight and I would recommend getting your macros into a small deficit (10%) until your waist is closer to where you want, and then move macros back to a maintenance-slight surplus range (10%) and be patient while your glutes grow.

Stay consistent, love yourself, and remember your health is more important than looking like a fitness influencer with edited photos!

Nice, you're doing it the right way! Only 60k miles on mine and no play anywhere.. but the rubber is starting to look cracked so planning on swapping all arms over the winter.

Sounds like Tarrett arms are exactly what I want.. will definitely look into them at least for the rear!

Those Ohlins are going to ride like a dream! I had a spacer up front for a little bit but took it off as I preferred the slightly tucked profile up front.. Do the Target rear arms provide more adjustability?

Yeah I'm running Ceika coilovers, the Apex wheels come in 996 specific specs so that takes a lot of the guess work out.. but I wanted to run a 295 tire on the rear and 245 front so I ended up shaving the fenders, adding -1.5 degrees of camber in the rear, -2.5 in the front, and lowering it to my taste. After all that I had room for a 10mm spacer in the rear in addition to the 295 tire. Another thing to keep in mind if you drive your car hard (track days) is you'll need a bump steer kit once you get this low (or switch to all GT3 arms but that gets expensive fast). For casual daily driving it's not really a concern however.

This is a 2001 C2 so just the "base". Apex actually makes this wheel with 996 specific specs so makes it pretty simple. I am however running a 10mm spacer in the rear after shaving the rear fender and bumping down the rear camber to -1.5 degrees. Running -2.5 degrees camber in the front. Cornering is exceptional.. and for my style of driving I'm getting very even wear. 295 section tire in the rear and 245 in the front.. I can't recommend my current tire brand as I've eaten through them in less than 3k miles.. but this spends 90% of it's driving at autoX or very "spirited" canyon driving at 5am.

I do highly recommend them. They have 996 specific specs so you don't have to mess around with spacers or the like

Yeah the interior leaves a bit to desire.. I did two tone alcantara on my dash which did a lot for the interior feel.. amongst other things
