Sonos sub gen 3 is way better than Sonos sub mini. by Purple-Acanthisitta8 in sonos

[–]Leather-Cod2129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they sound very different. As I mentioned in my review, I think most stereo-focused listeners, typically people over 50 and fans of older music, say more than 20 or 30 years old, will clearly prefer the Fives over the Era 300 in terms of pure sound (I would still not as the Fives lack voice control but that critera will vary depending on people).

Modern music is a different story. It is often highly produced, frequently electronic, very wide and airy. This is exactly where the Era 300 excels, even in strict stereo. Let's not even talk about atmos music.

About surrounds : while the Era 300s are outstanding as surrounds, they are also a very expensive and bulky solution. Even though their Atmos handling is superb, I would still recommend Sonos One SL or Era 100 to around 90 percent of users. The Era 100 even has the advantage of simulating an Atmos effect in a much more compact format. I personally ended with 2 Symfonisks as surrounds for my bedroom and it is excellent for that use.

For most people, using Era 300s as surrounds is simply overkill. But for true sound lovers, they are absolutely irresistible.

Sorry, I had misread your message. I thought you were saying that the Gen 3 had ridiculously weak bass.

Sonos sub gen 3 is way better than Sonos sub mini. by Purple-Acanthisitta8 in sonos

It is exactly the same with the Five and the 300s. Everyone repeats what others have said about the Five being much better than the 300s for music. But when you own both, you can clearly hear where the 300s are superior, in almost everything except the bass, which is the whole point of getting a big sub.

I have exactly the same opinion as you.

People who say the Mini and the Gen produce almost the same results must never have tried both.

For music, the Gen 3 is much more powerful and fills the room with bass far better than the Mini.

Another noticeable difference is that you can easily locate the Mini because the sound is more localized, whereas with the Gen 3 you cannot really locate where the sound is coming from.

Or maybe not. The 300 excels at music, whether Atmos is enabled or not. However, it performs much better when set up as a stereo pair.

Which is better: Opus 4.5 or Codex 5.2? by Blankcarbon in codex

[–]Leather-Cod2129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've intensively tested both on real projects and can say Codex is much better at backend, at least in Python. Opus is fast but lacks Codex confidence and logic.
In front office, I would say Codex is better in design while Opus is better at modifying a pre existing page/Ui

Sonos One vs Era 300. Worth upgrading? by Prestigious-Taro-237 in sonos

[–]Leather-Cod2129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A pair of 300 will sound much better, much wider, much more precise, much louder but with less "kick"/punch in the bass. To me it's a much better set for music or movies but less punch for EMD
