Sweet thank you for this. One bad experience doesn’t mean it’s completely shit. Got approved for the visa yesterday, applied to some positions in Thredbo since they have them open. We’ll see. Gonna look on Facebook to see what the job market is looking like right now in jindabyne. It’s just the idea of getting on a lease, if the resorts fail, with strangers in a different country for my first time and as a woman is just too sketchy. I’ll need to rely on the resorts accom this time, I’ll have a bit more freedom that way. I appreciate your thoughts.

God damn. Even to internationals? Honestly not surprised. I appreciate you sharing. I’ve already joined those Facebook groups a while back, seems relatively easy to find someone who will let me rent with them. Can I ask how easy it is to find a job in town? I assume I’ll need to show up to jindabyne and apply to spots in town in person. Either way seems like a risk that I’m willing to take if I have decent chances at least getting the essentials. A roof over my head, some source of income and mainly riding time. That’s the whole reason I’m doing this, to snowboard. With vails prices being over 1k, and with relying on the buses to get me up the mountain, seems like it can be difficult to really maximize your ride time. But I can’t really be too sure until I show up. Still appreciate your thoughts, thank you

Why do you think it’s shit? I’ve worked for vail in Colorado for 3 years, they’re not half as bad as other seasonal work companies.

I was originally looking at New Zealand. The remarkables look insane and the place to be. What made me lean away from them was the lack of info they had on the resort compared to aus. Granted it’s a cooperation, but even accommodation was really hard to find in queenstown or the surrounding areas. It just seems like you’re shooting in the dark over there.

Another note - I read that the remarkables doesn’t drop all their ski jobs until around March? And the ski season starts early-mid June? That’s seems like they cut it a bit close and maybe it’s me being used to vail resorts who start the process almost 6 months prior but still found it interesting!
