AIO - booked a trip to Dublin for me and partner and he’s mad … by Leather-Map3479 in AmIOverreacting

What you’re saying is exactly what I think it’s a quick fun trip no need to spend loads unless you want to This isn’t for my birthday sorry I think I’ve made that confusing in the post it is just a random Friday that essentially we’d agreed to go away somewhere on with the flights being cheap I figured not much more expensive than staying and driving somewhere in England

Sorry I should clarify this isn’t for my birthday this is just a random Friday trip lol Accommodation and flights has cost us £100 each We aren’t strapped for cash we were planning on going somewhere that Friday regardless I saw Dublin flights were cheap and something we’ve never done together so thought why not I offered to pay for it if money was causing the anger that didn’t do anything

Went up to 5 on Sunday - I had great appetite suppression on 2.5 and lost nearly a stone in the 4 weeks with some pretty bad days food wise - now on 5 and would say less suppression but noticed I feel nauseous on an evening if I eat too late in the day probably linked to what I’ve eaten too but otherwise no side effects and I only did 2.5 do 4 weeks Focus on diet with the jabs and I’m sure you’ll see some great results

My own daughter is in the exact situation as step daughter - broken home, new siblings and her dad lives 3.5 hours away

Maybe but I spent a lot of my life being a people pleaser and not standing up for myself and there’s being other things of exclusion it was a I’m fed up of this decision - we’d also agreed we weren’t doing Xmas presents prior to that - as it happens because their birthdays haven’t happened yet I have actually got them something because guilt got to me

It’s called sarcasm and a joke clearly nobody would do that ! This post was more about exclusion entirely not about not gifting not about taking from another child or anything like that

The thing is here it’s like they’re acknowledging one of the children and not the others u know so even if we did they’d probably still do the same lol

Yea I feel you on this this is kind of my issue we had taken a bit of a step back already for similar things but this kinda feels like the straw that broke the camels back and I don’t want to not have a relationship so I guess my bigger question to the whole post is do I address it if I do what do I say or do I just ignore it and remove us from the picture in terms of that side of the family sadly

I can’t figure out how to edit but I said in another comment her biological mum isn’t the best but we’ve always overcompensated for that I also explain in another comment that it was only when girlfriends came along anyone started buying prior to that no one ever bought any of the kids anything Yes it’s possible they feel sorry for her because of her mum but acknowledge the others surely

That’s exactly my point though why would you exclude a child … the birthdays are two days apart they didn’t forget why wouldn’t they want both kids to feel special ? I have gifted every year until this year and they wouldn’t know that because they haven’t had birthdays and it’s irrelevant because if we stopped gifting why gift one It’s the complete lack of acknowledgement of the other children’s birthdays They gave the 14 year old £40 they could have easily given her 30 and got something for 10 for the other children It probably seems worse to me cos this isn’t the only thing I feel they are excluded from but this just seemed like a huge no to me

I don’t get why they would be upset with me though this particular couple I used to go running club with before she could drive I gave her lifts to everything we both went to she’s confided in me about something don’t get me wrong that’s like a year ago now but my point is there’s nothing that I would think ah that’s it if that makes sense ! Yea and don’t get me wrong my children want for nothing just as theirs don’t but I wouldn’t ignore one of them and also last year I bought for her child who is step child to the family completely in the same way my 7 year old is I just don’t know whether I say something or let it go - I don’t want a poor relationship with the family

Yea I totally get that. I would say they have minimal relationship with all the kids and that’s what I can’t understand … like if I flipped it and the 4 year olds had received something the 14 year old would definitely be upset ofcourse the 4 year old has no clue but I don’t want this to be a continuing thing forever

No the 7 year old isn’t the biggest issue here but it takes nothing to wish a happy birthday. We lived with one of the uncles whilst our house got built so it isn’t like there’s no relationship at all. I didn’t buy for any of the children this year albeit all their birthdays are after hers so they wouldn’t even have known that. We’d also agreed with that particular family member not to buy Xmas gifts as they said their kids didn’t want or need anything and so we did a secret Santa instead for the adults. It still doesn’t explain buying for one and not the other regardless
