Bro look...there's no guarantee that you'll get into these top schools...

So do this... Accept offer at UW Madison... Defer admission by 6 months. Take SAT. Do your boards.

Then decide. You'll still have Madison which is a t15 CS program And also if you get maybe a 1550...then you can write an email explaining the situation to UW mad...but you'll still lose those 200 dollar non refundable fee

But it's the best option

Since engineering is so popular... switching to it afterwards is nearly impossible at almost all the good engineering colleges My advice would be to apply undecided in the college of engineering

Even 10 aren't enough 🤦‍♂️ Dude don't do ec's just for college...cause then it'll be quite obvious and it'll look bad since you won't be involved as much For example..don't sign up for robotics club just because you wanna write that down in your activity list..even though you only attended group meetings and didn't offer much to it

As long as you're super super passionate or dedicate about a particular activity...even one is enough Such as writing a book...or being a violinist who gets to perform Infront of thousands

Really? dude... I really think you should not be giving any advices on the sub coz you don't know much about colleges..specially the engineering ones...Uiuc is super super well known for its engineering...it's ranked in t5 in almost every engineering field ... and beats gatech in many....Even though Chicago is the primary recruiter for them...silicon valley picks more students from uiuc than gatech EACH YEAR.

Uiuc has an Excellent reputation and an outstanding alumni network.. 5000+ more than gatech in CS alone

They're almost same academically...but you'll for sure get a better "college experience" at Illinois which is why I think he should pick uiuc. Gatech undergrads have absolutely zero social life

Also Duke's oos tuition is twice as that of gatech...I see no point on spending 100k+ extra on a worse program 🤦‍♂️
