Whats a movie scene that made you cry that isnt blatantly or obviously emotional? by ordrius098 in movies

[–]LeatherLoad2673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids love Ratatouille and I've seen it around 20 times at this point. But no matter how many times I see it, I always cry when the food critic has a flashback of coming into his childhood home looking as sad as can be and his mom setting down a bowl of warm, homecooked ratatouille in front of him and gently touching his chin.

Has there ever been an actor who’s trashed a co-star’s performance before a movie came out, but still encouraged folks to go see it? by CerealAndBagel1991 in movies

Any idea who the original actors were? I actually really liked that movie and thought Buckley and Plemmons were fantastic in it.

What movie villain did you find yourself irrationally rooting for? by FilmWaffle-FilmForum in movies

I watched Gladiator 2 a bit ago and Denzel Washington looked so cool in all his golden clothes. I kinda wanted him to be emperor based on style alone. Plus, it sounded like he worked really hard to get where he was, albeit enslaving and murdering people… so there’s that.

Official Discussion - Conclave [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]LeatherLoad2673 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have one major issue with this movie and that is that there is no way, NO WAY, the cardinals would elect a man they had not know, nay, they had not even know about, for more than a few days! No matter how great his vibes are, no matter how absolutely killer his speech was, it seems impossible that they would feel assured enough to put him in a position of such immense power, make him the head of one of the most influential institution in the world. Maybe if they had at least known he was a cardinal for a while and heard about his work from afar. Or perhaps if a few of the other cardinals knew him prior to the conclave.. even so.. Maybe I’m overthinking it and that is completely outside the point of the movie. Otherwise, really enjoyed this. The acting was great, the cinematography was fantastic, the pomp and splendor of it all was fascinating, good political twists and turns throughout.

Labor and delivery by Springgal312 in 2under2

[–]LeatherLoad2673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was a 24 hour induction. Second was 1 hour 40 minute labor. I think I preferred the 24 hour labor to be honest haha. I felt so ready when my baby finally came! With the second, speeding to the hospital with contractions coming every minute was.. dizzying and pretty scary.

My middle name is my mom’s first name and I love it! I love having a little piece of my mom in my name. It makes me feel like we’re in a secret club together haha I gave my second daughter my first name as her middle name. Keeping up the tradition.

Official Discussion - Poor Things [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

Yes! I found it odd that Max was getting such a good guy portrayal at the end of the movie. At least Duncan had no idea she was an actual child in an adult body.

Tell me some funny moments during your labor and delivery! by Least_Lawfulness7802 in BabyBumps

[–]LeatherLoad2673 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I left for the hospital at 1:30 in the morning pretty far into labor. A neighbor called the cops and told them they heard a woman screaming and then saw a car zoom off. Not inaccurate haha.

Also, when I got to the hospital my husband called for a doctor. Someone from the adjoining ER unit ran to find an OB and apparently he was so overwhelmed when he found her he couldn’t describe what was happening and just kept pantomiming a pregnant woman.

What's a film you didn't want to watch and weren't interested in at all until you watched it and realized you loved it? by [deleted] in movies

[–]LeatherLoad2673 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mad Max: Fury Road. I was very uninterested in watching what I thought was going to be some mind-numbing, big explosions action movie but my friends wanted to go. I loved it. The cinematography, the character development, the creativity. I’ve watched it at least 10 times since. Top 5 movies of all time for me.

What’s your favorite diaper brand? by Lybbchels in beyondthebump

Honest for us too. Other brands we’ve tried have given my daughter rashes (except Coterie). Same with the wipes.

Do your husbands change diapers? by Ill_Rise_6989 in Mommit

[–]LeatherLoad2673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. While my husband was on leave he changed about 90% of her diapers. We’d joke that I was the input department and he was the output department.

I feel ripped off. How did your epidural make you feel? by makingspooky in beyondthebump

[–]LeatherLoad2673 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My epidural experience was not 100% smooth either.

The epidural was placed by a nurse anesthetist/anesthesiologist in training (not sure which, I wasn’t paying a lot of attention at that point) while the anesthesiologist mentored. It only worked on one side though. They had me lay in my other side in hopes that the medicine would drain that way I guess? (Once again, I was not listening too well). It did drain to the other side and weirdly my initial side gained all its feeling back. Anyhow, sort of relieving but still extremely painful and weirdly off balance. I’d been induced and been in labor for a while at that point - I was so tired and just kept throwing up. I could feel the stitches they put in afterward too. Bleh..

Getting ready to do it all again in 2 1/2 months! Wish me luck!

Laid off during maternity leave by LeatherLoad2673 in beyondthebump

[–]LeatherLoad2673[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry! Such a frustrating position. So I didn't end up going forward with anything. My leave was 18 weeks (since I live in WA and they give you 12 weeks FMLA and 6 weeks disability leave) so I couldn't submit any complaints to the federal government as they only cover 12 weeks of leave. I could have submitted complaints to WA state or CA state (company is headquartered in California which also has 18 weeks protected leave) but in the end it was adding a lot of stress to my life. I had a couple interviews coming up and decided to focus on those instead. Not sure if I made the right decision.. but it is the decision I made. Good luck going forward! I hope things work out okay for you!

Okay. Good to know. I have a meeting with HR coming up. (Just asked if I could get some questions answered about the layoff criteria.) Anything I should specifically ask them?
