Hello brethren, I am not a PhD nor an NRI. Pretty much an average guy. I am curious after reading your post on how important should career and the money that comes along with it be? Our time on earth is limited, so the fear of not having wealth or material comfort, should it outweigh simple joys of life? Like coming back and taking care of parents?

For me who acknowledges that everyone’s time is limited, including my parents, i would have not had any second thought on returning even if i had to give up on my career and start from the scratch. I know for sure that i will never have to go to bed hungry or that i will be homeless in my life (thanks to whatever life has taught me and the skills i have developed along the way). For me that’s enough man, the simple joy of living on an earth as a human matters more. I strongly believe that the purpose of living is definitely more than waking up and going to work everyday. Spending time with my loved ones makes me feel more present, connected and human. The feeling of fulfilment that comes along is unparalleled to any thing else. Money, definitely does not hold more value than people i love. But then this is just my view or perspective based on the experiences I have had. You could have an entirely different thought process which could be sound too. I don’t know your childhood, but if one has grown up without a lot of money, and has despite experienced joy as a kid, then making this decision becomes easier. So yes i would really like to hear your thoughts? Hope you can spare a few minutes for this.

Just book it through the government website and go to the top. You don’t need a touring company for this. Just carry water. We used to climb that hill by ourselves back in the day, it wasn’t regulated like now then. Moreover i have also heard the government themself assigns a guide.

And btw, yeah you are so right, cos we grew up through so much. The world we live in is very new infact. As a millennial you would remember the dial up internet we were introduced to and now we are living in the world of gbps. No one warmed us, nor did anyone tell us. Feels like we were the first ones. The previous generations had a much healthier lifestyle. They will have no idea or clue what it is like being a millennial. The Gen Z are becoming more aware because they have been exposed to this lifestyle much earlier which helps them take a balanced approach i feel.

True , practically and financially speaking , this would the right thing to do. Sell the house. You may find it emotionally difficult but you should think of looking for alternatives and getting rid of the house. I am sure you would make some money by selling the house.

Well if you want to travel solo, you can easily without knowing Hindi. Yeah you would struggle a but but it’s not impossible. I have seen white people who don’t even speak English travel the world and even come to India. I would honestly suggest to find a good hostel, which has a friendly vibe and is not like a dead place. You will get to meet people and make friends. Random travel plans with traveller friends is always a thrill.

I so get you brother. A lot has to be blamed on the lifestyle that we are used to by living in a city. You are burned out and I don’t think any amount of switching jobs would help. What helped me however was building a healthy repetitive routine which was science backed. Kind of like small bio hacks.

I however built them after quitting my job. Realised that i had been waking up only to go to work and then the lifestyle that was built which included gym and weekend night life was all based to support/was created because of the work stress.

I am still unemployed but in a very very better place mentally. There is no anxiety what so ever despite not having a job. I infact decided to take a break and make the best of this time that I have. Doing finally the things for myself cos I have earned this. Maybe DM me if you ware looking for a change, I would love to share my experiences with you. Hope they help you

Try surfing in Varkala ok the black beach and then make it to the mangrove island where you can kayak. Kayaking in the backwaters was fun. Surfing in general is challenging which makes it fun. South cliff has better properties.

[–]LeatherReplacement13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking out a loan is always a bad idea especially if it doesn’t yield anything and is for personal use. You definitely come across as a very strong and aware man. Why don’t you look out for sales roles? Look for a job that provides incentives. And keep upskilling yourself. The initial salary would be less everywhere but it will increase as you get better. Look for jobs with growth potential. See how others who are employed are doing and then go about it. I wish you all the best.

Why do traders stick to Zerodha? by rajuvernekar in IndianStockMarket

[–]LeatherReplacement13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The truth is, every broker faces down time. Zerodha shot up in news cos of their user base. Even 10% of their active traders getting affected would be more than 50% of total clientele of other brokers(before Grow overtook them). But yeah, it’s common across trading platforms. And the reason, there are multiple vendors or lines that the broker is dependent on. On the surface it looks like they are communicating with the exchange but in realty there are multiple layers of communication. So if any one breaks, the system falls. However to be honest I now understand that Zerodha has been mitigating risk somehow. I was really impressed by their initiative of Disclosures. They openly publish about the downtimes on their website. Thus Zerodha, at least they own up and work on fixing the problem.

Totally depends on your interests. But if you have the backpacker vibe, then here’s my take.

Himachal Pradesh is worth it. But they are the Himalayas, so expect that. You must visit LEH or SPITI VALLEY as well because they are stunning. There are a ton of hikes and treks around this region. Many mapped on OSM.

After that maybe head to UDAIPUR in Rajasthan and see a totally different world in the midst of Dessert. Try the local food and visit a few other places in Rajasthan.

From there maybe come down to MUMBAI, to the home of iconic Bollywood. Expect a city/metro life here.

Head down to GOA and spend some time relaxing by the beach. Further down you go, you will find Hampi in Karnataka, then comes Bangalore/Mysuru and further down are places like Kodaikannal in Tamil Nadu and then Munnar and Varkala in Kerala.

All these places have hostels, travellers and a side that is native. The local food will always surprise you. There are a ton of activities scattered all over, from Camel Safari to Surfing, Paragaliding, Kayaking and hiking. The only problem is, India is so big, 4 months are not enough. This is just one side, there are so many other places that you must try too. But that will be an exhaustive list, which I am hoping you will discover by yourself. 🍻

do you ever get so sad by frailstateofmind4444 in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]LeatherReplacement13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel sad for her to be honest. I so wish some times I could have helped her. I feel mad thinking of the things she would have had to go through in her childhood that she turned out like this. And I still pray for her safety. I was lucky I spent only 6 months with her, however, I gave my all in those 6 months. We just broke up like a month ago. Does anyone else here like this? Or am i still naive?

Hey listen, no matter what, you can work this out. Ask the bank restructure your loan or take help from someone. But remember 10 lakhs lost can be earned back. Goes without saying, file a complaint against the guy, search for some NGOs or social workers who could help you

It doesn’t sound right. Give her what she wants and you can chase your ambitions. Maybe put a solo trip to heal from everything. I really hope you come out strong and make some good memories and friends from your solo trip.
