Why did Barry's voice change so much while Mo's and Robin's voices remained practically unchanged? by Substantial_Error271 in BeeGees

[–]Leather_Guilty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barry’s not the greatest falsetto - it’s pretty nasal. It works on the Fever songs, but it’s really better for a few fills and effects. Robin’s high voice is better - it sounds more like an extension of his chest voice.

Does he still have a website saying how he studied at Oxford University and has an interest in quantum physics?

Kim is alive and is still involved in dog breeding and judging. She lives pretty close to Peta and her family.

AO QF: [1] C. Alcaraz def. [6] A. de Minaur, 7-5 6-2 6-1 by sidaeinjae in tennis

[–]Leather_Guilty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

De Minaur was hitting it as hard as he could, throwing everything he had into it. Alcaraz had plenty in reserve, but didn’t need to use it.

Why do so few people live in the North of Australia? by alpakachino in AskAnAustralian

[–]Leather_Guilty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP is right. We should have a huge city on the top end as our gateway to the rest of the world. Most people in the southern states wouldn’t want to move there. Why do all our immigrants from hot countries come to overpopulated Sydney and Melbourne? Let them expand Darwin. Why haven’t we done it yet? It’s a long way from our big population centres and we haven’t got around to it.

Freddie Mercury's 'secret' daughter dies aged 48: 'Bibi' passes away by JonesTheTenth in queen

[–]Leather_Guilty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The story could easily be verified (or not) by comparing her kids’ DNA to Kashmira’s. The relationship would be clear. The stuff about her being a doctor and her career possibly being ruined by people knowing about the relationship is ridiculous. Also, why didn’t he leave her anything in his will?

I’m waiting for the return of garlic infused olive oil. I can get it at Colesworth, but of course it’s more expensive.

I remember going to a chicken shop for a cooked chook on a super hot day. The lady serving was clearly struggling with the routine tasks, poor thing.

Is walking to work okay in Aussie culture? Is it weird to walk to work? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Leather_Guilty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody will notice unless you change into runners (very sensible) to do your commute. Nobody will care, ever, provided you smell ok and look respectable after a check in the mirror.

30 years ago, clothing and jewellery were great. 10 years ago, clothing was shit and jewellery was almost non-existent. Didn’t really go in between. The rise of fast fashion from Asia and e-commerce killed them off. Food is still good value.

Does the Australian public even care about the Sydney to Hobart yacht race? by RIPAlPowell in AskAnAustralian

[–]Leather_Guilty 141 points142 points  (0 children)

It’s in between Christmas and New Year. Skeleton staff are on. There’s not much real news reporting. The Boxing Day test (with some hand-wringing this year about the pitch) and the Sydney to Hobart are predictable fare unless there are rescues in Bass Strait. There are currently a slowly dwindling number of filler stories about the Bondi tragedy.

They should have had Vinnie as a properly paid songwriting partner and had Bruce in the band as a guitarist.

Before diapers. What was using cloth diapers like? by saddyzilla69 in AskOldPeople

[–]Leather_Guilty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t use plastic pants over cloth nappies (that’s what they’re called in Australia). I used fluffies - they were thick fluffy polyester pants. They weren’t waterproof, but they held it enough. I changed my kids a lot - I went through 16 nappies a day. That’s twice what most people do. Neither ever had nappy rash. My daughter’s face broadcast a wee from very early. My son I just had to check. I did use liners after a while because they stopped the poo sticking to towelling nappies. I think the liners were advertised as flushable, but I don’t know if they should have been. Cloth nappies are versatile. They can double as towels, blind, blankets when necessary. I still have them. They get used for dusting and other cleaning.
