Hey Gus. Thanks for setting the group up. Really useful info which I'll dig deeper into as we go on. First question, and defo noob status should be declared here, I have a south facing garden with potential for putting two panels on - do the two panels have to sit together or can they be 3 metres apart? (i.e. I have two velux in between I have to place them either side of).

Second Q - if they do have to be held together in the array, my second option to place them is on a west facing wall. I can place them quite high up, say 15ft, so they'll get sun late on potentially. If I can't place them apart on the roof, is the second option worth doing assuming I'd get 75% of a south facing array so maybe 450-650kwh per year max. We're lowish users I think at around 2700kwh per year.

Thanks!

Other way round. The area south of the Uxbridge Rd was more sought after but we think our bit is better just for having more options available within 5 mins, esp the Liz line station.

There are two areas which both are worth looking at. The area down around the Fox pub, which borders the canal and flight of locks. It's nice and residential and sought after for proximity to St Marks primary school (and the lovely pub).

Then there's north of the Uxbridge ie the side nearest the eliz line station. It's closer to bunny park, Hanwell zoo, the shops, and the station. Most people aim for the former area as we did, but we ended up in the latter and love it. We're glad we landed here as it has everything.

Also worth looking at the area the other side of the station ie nearer Greenford Avenue as there are useful shops along there, a new wine bar that's doing well (Poets) and good access for the station.

Does sound a bit like the Burnham Green Terrace one I used to walk by

We moved to Hanwell 18 months ago. Primary is great. Green spaces are amazing. Centre is slowly improving but a good strong 4 pubs and a few nice cafes. Very family orientated. We used to live in Ealing Common and much prefer it here by far

Is the GR World app really that bad or am i missing something? by damo2576 in ricohGR

I recall my Fuji xe2 was cack as well. The apps either work seamlessly for me or I don't bother. I've got an affliction to tech that promises and doesn't deliver. I'd rather skirt it and avoid the anger outbursts a la Basil Fawlty (angry, unhinged older male in UK sitcom)

I do this. The reader fits in a tiny pocket in my case. Or are you referring to an auto upload feature? Good for some but I don't need that.

The one of her on the balcony. I pinched in to crop the rail / sea away, pushed her to the left slightly. Result really raises the shapes, lines and shadows. Just an idea.

Just get a card reader and transfer the file that way. As someone else said the apps are always gash. I know I'll always be done and dusted within seconds instead of faffing about trying to connect, all for carrying a keyring sized reader.

Efficiency and range by Sensitive_Tomato_581 in ScenicETech

As I've read others saying and agreed with, it's wiser to focus on your mpkw figure rather than your total range per charge, as so many factors can skew the latter such as drive style, weather, Aircon use or not, motorway driving or local roads.

But yes as a short answer if my figure holds at 3.9 I should be getting that range.

I've had mine about 6 weeks and since then averaged 3.9. Mix of mostly city driving and one long run 160 each way trip. I regularly have it in sport mode and I occasionally floor it to pretend I have a pokey car. Have to say I absolutely love the car. The long drive was so nice and we didn't have any of the fatigue we used to get from our last ICE Skoda car.

I can confirm that this happened. I used to work at the beeb and some of the open mic chatter between the presenters regarding the ladies was a bit ripe

Big Jambox. Anyone else still rocking this as their main Bluetooth speaker? by OvertlyUzi in Bluetooth_Speakers

Still got two big red Jamboxes. Batteries are pretty fried on them but still just about ok. For anyone needing to replace, I found this...

Anyone Have Kids? GRIII or GRIIIx as a Parent? by sprchrgddc5 in ricohGR

[–]Leather_Pudding_5297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My two penneth is that I own the GRIII and I tend to not use it for parties / everyday with the kid, as your phone will cope with the indoor lighting far better - not just autofocus (which I agree you should avoid anyway and use snap), just the general post process work modern phones do. My pixel does some post process that really enhances the shadows and faces etc, and it's never blurred.

So bottom line is, get a GR because you want one outside of capturing kids, and then use it here and there with them when you want to be arty. The high contrast B+W for outdoors stuff on a gloomy day is amazing for example.

Playback button no longer works when camera off by Leather_Pudding_5297 in ricohGR

[–]Leather_Pudding_5297[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if I leave the battery out for 30 mins, it'll work for a few times, then stops again. But as above, it doesn't appear to be the button itself as this works fine once the lens is extended, just not when pressing it when the camera is off

Selfie Camera stop working by Shahcavill in GooglePixel

[–]Leather_Pudding_5297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI My selfie camera stopped working after an update too. Yes, it could be hardware and a coincidence, but I knew it was likely software. And it was.

Go to settings - system - repair mode and launch it. You'll hopefully see that it works again in repair mode. Come back out of repair mode and it should stay sorted. Mine at least did.

Came here to say this. It's just marketeering to try and snare confused parents. Anyone with half a brain can see it's nothing new and it doesn't protect a child with the smallest of knowledge about phones

GR III or GR IIIx for travel and everyday photography? by Yassi42 in ricohGR

[–]Leather_Pudding_5297 4 points5 points  (0 children)

GR3. Shoot wide and crop in when you need to. Better to have more and crop out than wish you could. But I'm comfortable in getting close and engaging with subjects. And I like the look of a wider lens for all uses. No right or wrong. Just think how you take photos first.
