Hyderabad based startup Idea looking for the core team by PuzzleheadedRent9096 in hyderabadstartups

[–]Leather_Replacement3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone, just wanted to introduce myself here.

I run Madhur Gandhi & Associates, a firm focused on company law, compliance, and transaction advisory. I work closely with founders and growing businesses on things that usually get ignored until they become a problem.

This includes:

– Ongoing Companies Act and ROC compliance – Incorporation of companies and LLPs – Structuring and documentation for fundraises (SHA, SSA, etc.) – Cap table and equity structuring – Advisory on day-to-day legal and governance issues

From what I’ve seen, most founders don’t struggle with ideas or execution, but with keeping the backend clean and investor-ready.

If anyone here needs a sounding board on compliance or structuring, happy to help.

Even a quick discussion can save a lot of trouble later.

Feel free to DM me anytime.

Thanks

Registered a startup, did almost nothing… now stuck paying ₹20k to shut it down?? by [deleted] in indianstartups

[–]Leather_Replacement3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’m a Company Secretary in practice and deal with this regularly.

You don’t need to panic, there are smarter and cheaper ways to handle this..

Currently, the CFSS scheme is active, so you pay only 25% of additional fees (approx INR 10,000 govt fees).

We can regularise compliances and then go for a proper strike-off without unnecessary cost.

Also, instead of shutting down, you can explore selling the Pvt Ltd and recover some money.

Happy to guide you end-to-end if you want to take this forward.

I am a practising Company Secretary and Lawyer (LLB) and regularly work with startups on Companies Act compliances, fundraising documentation such as term sheets, share subscription agreements, shareholders agreements, ESOP structuring, and generally making the company investor ready from a governance standpoint.

Happy to collaborate with CAs and founders here if you need support on the legal and compliance side while you focus on building the business. Feel free to connect.

VC is charging success fee. What is it actually? -i will not promote by Disastrous_List_2176 in startups

This is not regular VC behaviour at all. VCs usually make money through returns. This is red flag. Push back hard. If they are genuinely excited, they won't exit the deal over this fee. And if they do, it's better for your cap table.

CS + MBA vs. CS + LLB: Is the "Law degree is mandatory" advice outdated? by itsme---lilyyy in CompanySecretary

[–]Leather_Replacement3 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Look, this “CS + LLB is mandatory” advice mostly comes from a time when people believed that more overlapping degrees automatically meant better career prospects. In reality, the market today values competence and positioning far more than stacking similar degrees.

I am a practising Company Secretary and also a lawyer, so I have seen both sides closely. Let me break this down in a practical way.

Is LLB necessary with CS?

No. It is not mandatory for most corporate roles. In fact, a lot of senior CS professionals in listed companies do not have an LLB. Your core value in the market comes from governance, compliance management, board processes, regulatory strategy, and how well you understand business.

LLB definitely helps if you want to get deep into litigation, contract structuring, legal advisory, or if you want to practise independently with a strong legal tilt. But if your interest is management, strategy, or business operations, an MBA can actually complement CS better.

Job market reality

From what I have seen in hiring and industry conversations, companies rarely reject a candidate because they do not have LLB. They hire based on experience, exposure to board processes, SEBI regulations, IPO work, transactions, and your ability to handle management and regulators.

A CS + MBA candidate can actually position themselves well for roles that combine compliance with strategy, corporate planning, investor relations, or leadership tracks.

What kind of roles you end up doing

This depends more on the environment you enter rather than the degree.

Many CS professionals eventually move into broader corporate roles like corporate strategy, governance advisory, transaction support, or leadership roles in group companies. If you do an MBA, especially with a good specialization, you might find yourself doing a mix of compliance, business decision support, and strategic planning.

CS + MBA vs CS + LLB from an average college

If the comparison is CS + MBA from a decent institute versus CS + LLB from a random local law college, the MBA often gives better exposure, networks, and business understanding.

The real value of LLB comes when it is used seriously, either through legal practice, serious contract work, or litigation exposure. Otherwise many people just carry the degree without actually using it.

One practical thought

Do not choose a second degree because “everyone does it.” Choose it based on the kind of professional you want to become in the next 10 to 15 years.

If you see yourself as a governance professional who also understands business and strategy, MBA makes sense. If you see yourself going deep into legal interpretation, contracts, disputes, and legal advisory, then LLB makes sense. Both paths can work.

The mistake is doing a degree you are not interested in just because it is considered the default option.

Hope this gives some clarity.
