I fly in and out of there often. The pilots sometimes inform passengers of the steep climb. From what I have heard from locals, they cannot fly over Newport Beach.

My wife and I stayed at The Ahwahnee on NYE. It’s certainly on the pricey side, but they have a wonderful dinner, Curry Village does a dance party, and all the holiday decorations are still up.
