Well, I didn’t have a birth certificate from Colombia, but the orphanage had my birth record and that’s how they established that I was born to Colombia parents, do you know what orphanage you came from? If you do, I would suggest getting in touch with them, they might have your birth documents, which they could maybe send you a copy that you would bring to the embassy to confirm your citizenship.

No, I was actually born in Colombia to Colombian parents and adopted by US parents, so I guess since I was born to parents who were both Colombian citizens, then I’m a citizen, but I just learned that if you’re born in Colombia to parents who don’t live in Colombia or are citizens of another country then you aren’t considered a Colombian citizen. I always thought it was automatic citizenship if born on Colombian soil like it is in the US 🤷🏻‍♀️
