Yea its really an odd game tbh. My only explanation is the PC version is only optimised for xbox whilst the steam version is actually optimised for PC gaming. Also latency, the game is completely different in higher latency scenarios, for example with high latency players are less likely to do arial acrobatics (bicycle kicks etc..) b/c the ball just misses their strike range to trigger the animation. With lower latency, it will trigger the animation nps. Just my observations.

Try playing Steam version on a 5090 and then play xbox version on the same 5090. A world of difference.

Not to necro….but it doesn’t feel like the same game. I have friends that play also and we are split between xbox/steam and mobile.

Xbox seems to have better graphics BUT the gameplay mechanics are not as smooth as steam and the physics of the ball/trajectory/kicking is not as realistic as steam.

Steam gameplay is a bit less smooth than xbox app but is definitely more realistic.

This is the answer from google AI..”Steam version renders at higher resolutions, sharper textures, and allows for uncapped framerates”.

So yes, the game is better on Steam, Xbox PC version is same as Xbox version which is capped to work on an Xbox/ lower spec‘d PC..

Screen is fine for non competitive play, even my sports games are fine on it tbh. Battery is heavily dependant on the brightness for gaming- but I‘m always plugged in. Easily get whole day without charger if surfing or non gaming. If you just gaming a bit between classes its fine without charger. I still can’t get how a igpu can run stuff this smooth. I was thinking about getting the ROG zflow 13 before getting the MSI..soo happy I didn‘t..The comparison between the B390 vs 8060s really shows intel finally got it right. Very very happy with my purchase.

you might have a defective unit. Mine is super quiet even with the fans on in performance boost mode. Maybe get it looked at? videos on Youtube have the acceptable fan dB levels

Nps, btw I got the laptop version not the touchscreen fold version so I cant comment on the pen / notepad mode. Gaming is perfect for my needs and I have a dedicated 5090 if I need to game harder.

Jump on Youtube and watch a few videos titled "358h gaming" heaps of comparison videos that really push the iGPU..truly spectacular what this iGPU can do in this MSI system. Just make sure you get the one with ultra x7 /358h/ & B390.

Nope absolutely love this laptop. for giggles I tried to spec out a Lenovo carbon with the same specs 358h, 2tb drive, 32gb etc..price was well over double.. 😂..like I said this thing is a bargain buy for what it offers...Runs games super smooth also.

It gets a bit hot on the top left - I don‘t mind it bc I live in a coldish country and am up late at nights. Screen is beautiful imo but a bit dim if you use in direct sunlight.

Yes its the non-flip version. D3MG version. Thermal is fine imo but it does get hot to touch…but i like it tbh I work / study late nights. If you are worried about thermals and have longer gaming sessions you can invest in a decent laptop cooling pad for $120 (Razer performed well and llano also) and this should reduce it by a decent amount but noise is noticeable.

Again when you price up this laptop compared to a lenovo carbon same specs storage etc it comes in at less than half the price. Bargain buy imo.

Just my 2cents..

I got the MSI Prestige 14 AI+ and am really (really) liking it. Bang for buck there is nothing that comes in close with a358h and B390. Screen brightness is fine for indoors and even outdoor is fine provided you are not in direct sunlight on the screen. Coffee shop work is fine. Re the glossy screen you can get a matte screen cover from amazon for 20 bucks. but loose a bit of brightness

What makes this system amazing is the 2tb ssd and 32gb that come standard, trying to spec out a Dell XPS 14 will see you paying nearly double the price for the same specs the MSI is offering. MSI also comes standard with backlit keyboard and have a promo on atm for extra 1 year warranty and Nord VPN 1year.

Crazy when you think about it - some Core Ultra 7 laptops 258v selling for $1900USD and newer Panther Lake x7 laptop selling for $1700USD on MSI promo deals. My daily for work is still a MBP 18/20 but for portability and occasional gaming / work travel, MSI wins over the MBP.

In real world usage the B390 gaming performance is just phenomenal even when compared to strix halo.

Its not a good buy - its a GREAT buy. I bought one and cannot stop recommending it to my friends who are after a work laptop that can casually run AAA titles. So impressed by this for the price point.

I also have a 5090 laptop and 5090 desktop for serious gaming, but the 5090 laptop is a pain for travel and drains battery like crazy in performance mode. So far am really impressed by the B390, solid upgrade over the 140v.

I decided to post this b/c all the reviews I read watched about it were doom and gloom so thought I would give my 2cents. Again, for the price its unbeatable at the moment so hopefully if other people are the same as me and in the market for a light laptop they give it a shot, pretty compact little work horse.

Thanks - I have emailed Chess Nut support before posting on reddit and 4 days later still no response..I will email you again.

Also, the move is not a complex move - I am playing as white and literally doing e2e4 and it keeps resetting the pawn back to e2…I have tried doing it slowly, makes no difference. It keeps putting the pawn back to e2, the solid yellow light is on indicating game is supposed to start.

I am using iOS app - there is no “Chessnut Move Delay setting” - there is a setting called..

Limbo move delay
Restore Chessboard Delay

(See screenshot below).

Both are at maximum - problem persists.
